Founded in 1985, the East Grand Rapids Department of Public Safety comprises of police and fire departments. Located in East Grand Rapids, Mich., it has a staff of more than 30 sworn personnel, who are cross-trained as police officers, fire fighters and medical responders, as well as civilian support staff and paid-on-call fire fighters.
