Envisioning a place where patients could feel confident and comfortable about their skin care, dermatologist Dr. Toby Shawe and dermatological surgeon Dr. Samy Badawy founded Skin Smart in 2002. They took a holistic approach to skin, combining their up-to-date medical expertise with the latest trends in aesthetics. One of our unique features you are sure to notice is that Skin Smart is a paperless practice -- Pennsylvania's only one. Each examination room is outfitted with a computer for the medical assistant to immediately enter data so that your doctor spends less time jotting down notes and more time talking to you. Enjoy! Dr. Toby Shawe Dermatologist Toby Shawe, MD Dr. Toby Shawe founded Skin Smart in 2002 to put her philosophy of "cosmetically elegant" care into practice. Surgeon Dr. Shawe, MD Earned her MD in Lille, France after completing her bachelor of science degree at Columbia University in New York. She completed postgraduate training at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia in internal medicine as well as dermatology. Surgeon Samy Badawy, MD Dr. Samy Badawy is Skin Smart's surgeon who specializes in modified Mohs surgical excision of skin cancers, leg vein management and laser services. Dr. Badawy earned his MD at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, following a graduate degree at the University of Bordeaux in France and a bachelor's degree from Cornell University. Postgraduate training included internships at Brown University Hospital and Sinai Hospital through Johns Hopkins University. Dr. Badawy completed his surgical residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania and additional laparoscopic surgical training at Methodist Hospital in Philadelphia. Dr. Badawy is a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, the American Society of Dermatological Surgery, the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery and the College of Phlebology. In his free time, Dr. Badawy is an active practitioner of Akido and coaches soccer. He and his wife, Dr. Toby Shawe, have three children.
