19 yr patient 'turned away' because of insurance changes. Refused to accept 'payment out of pocket'

Me and my family are 19 year patients of Geneva Eye Clinic. After driving out a half hour with a relative (for a ride), I was turned away from my appointment after it was determined "they could no longer accept my insurance plan". I offered to PAY OUT OF POCKET for the visit (I had done this a few times in the past with no problems) and was told they could not accept that.I asked if they allowed "people with no insurance walking in the door" to pay out of pocket, and they said they did. Um, okay?I could understand if I was a new patient with insurance they did not accept, but not a patient of 19 years. I also believe patients should be able to pay out of pocket for a visit if their insurance is not accepted - or - they simply wish to pay that way.All in all, not a professional way to treat long time customers. We were turned away at the door as if it was "no big deal" or we lived 30 seconds away. They just may have lost my family's business because of this policy.

I offered to PAY OUT OF POCKET for the visit (I had done this a few times in the past with no problems) and was told they could not accept that.

I asked if they allowed "people with no insurance walking in the door" to pay out of pocket, and they said they did. Um, okay?

I could understand if I was a new patient with insurance they did not accept, but not a patient of 19 years. I also believe patients should be able to pay out of pocket for a visit if their insurance is not accepted - or - they simply wish to pay that way.

All in all, not a professional way to treat long time customers. We were turned away at the door as if it was "no big deal" or we lived 30 seconds away. They just may have lost my family's business because of this policy.
