I saw Nikki for a few years prior to my move in 2016. There were many positives in our several-years-long relationship, which I will address, but what I will never forget was that she volunteered to come to my father's funeral. She went out of her way and beyond the required duties of a psychiatric provider and supported me at a time of immense sadness, and I'll always appreciate that.

Here are some things that may be more relevant for your service with her. I've purposely included both negatives and positives in order to give a fair explanation.
- She will be very upfront and direct with what is expected of you and will quickly set very clear boundaries. If you do not appreciate clear boundaries and expectations then you may have a hard time.
- Nikki was willing to try a variety of medications until we found the correct one. She never acted like she knew what I needed better than I did. She always heard me out and treated me like an equal.
- Her schedule is not exceptionally flexible due to her seeing many clients. If you often reschedule or flake on appointments then you will have a hard time. Skipping appointments will cost you money.
- She has extensive knowledge of medical science and may often explain things to you in a thorough and information-laden way. She is a very intelligent person and I think that is evident through her mannerisms while giving explanations.
- She will try to come up with new ideas and will not just accept if things are not working. She will treat you as an equal member in the brainstorming process.
- If you're just trying to get benzos or a controlled substance like that, then you're going to have a hard time.

After waiting over a month to see Dr. Adams, I found she is rude, has horrible bedside manner and only wants your money. She does not express concern or have any feelings towards you. She is flat and very cold. Though I felt all this from my first impression, I felt I would still give her a chance. “People have bad days.”

I expressed concern that I may not be able to afford her treatment plan, though needed help. My insurance denied the medication she prescribed at my second appointment and she told me she would not write me anything else to replace the DENIED medication until I came back in to see her. This out of pocket is not cheap for me. She knew I had financial concerns as I expressed that from the beginning as I am currently unemployed and my insurance did not cover much and I have a really high deductible.

Instead of trying to help me, or discuss my expressed concer she cancelled my appointment I had scheduled in 2 days and told me to see someone else VIA A TEXT MESSAGE! Wow, how unprofessional. A doctor firing you because you expressed financial concern!!!! She did not call me to discuss anything nor allow me to come to my scheduled appointment.

I spend what little money I had to see her for help and now am left with no money, no treatment and an unprofessional text message.

I read the horrible reviews on her prior to seeing her; don't make the same mistake in seeing her like I did anyway... There are much better providers out there as I used to work for one.

In my humble opinion I don't think that Dr. Adams is a not a very good or caring psychiatrist. Let me share my experience with you so you don't make the same mistake I did. First it took me almost a month to get an appointment. I went into her office and was 100% honest and laid everything out on the table. I bared my soul and ALL of my problems honestly and with no reservations only to be told "Sorry I can't help you" Let me recommend someone in DC 2.5 hours from your house. She wouldn't even try. I took 1/2 a day off work and spent $50 on a co-pay to be rejected by the doctor only to be basically told that I am to messed up to be treated by her? I have never had a doctor refuse to help me. It took me so long to even get to the point of asking for help and then to have my hand slapped away was in my opinion heartless and unprofessional.

I asked her for my file since she refused to treat me and we were ending our relationship and she flat out refused to give me MY file saying it was a legal document! There is NO reason she needs my confidential information including my social security number if we don't have any kind of Dr / Patient relationship. She recommend someone else in the area and after I left her office in tears. I called the recommended doctor who doesn't take any kind of insurance. What doctor doesn't take any kind of insurance? I explained my finances and even though I have good insurance I can't afford $350 out of pocket and if Dr. Adams knows this person so well that she would refer me to them she should know that its cash up front and I can't afford that.... Waste of time and money..... worst of all she wouldn't even TRY to help me.

Unprofessional!

Dr. Adams is extremely unprofessional, rude, and has no concern for others. She decided to take me on as a patient, then changed her mind and had no intentions of ever telling me until I called her back after 1 week. Very disappointed.
