Dr. Petitto received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1979 from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC. In 1981 she continued on at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC for pre-medical studies, followed by a stint at Oxford University, England; where she received a Certificate of Theology. She returned to UNC where she graduated medical school in 1987. Then she completed her internship in 1988 at Mercy Medical Center, Baltimore, MD (University of Maryland). From 1988-1991, Dr. Petitto attended another ACC school and completing her residency in Ophthalmology at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC. In 1991 and 1992 Dr. Petitto practiced in Burlington, NC at Alamance Eye Center, but in 1993 she could resist Gainesville no longer and began practicing at Gainesville Eye Physicians. Then in 2008 she joined Accent Physician Specialist and created Accent on Eyes.
