Dr. Wood specializes in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus. He began practicing as a comprehensive ophthalmologist in Redding, California in 1979. After 15 years in private practice, he served for two years as Chief of Surgery at Mercy Medical Center. He then went on to complete a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology at the University of Texas, Houston, in 1995. That same year he was appointed as Director of Pediatric Ophthalmology at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center, a position he held for 11 years, rising to the level of associate professor. As a consultant for the most serious and complicated eye problems, he has received referrals from Colorado, Arizona, Texas and New Mexico. Dr. Wood’s free time is mainly devoted to his three children and wife of over 30 years. He also enjoys playing tennis, hiking, biking and seeing the world. He recently biked throughout Europe with Vermont Biking Tours.
