I had to bring my daughter to urgent care today due to upper respiratory infection. I was greeted by the secretary. When I proceeded to give her my TWO insurance cards she advised me that they didn't take my primary insurance ( which I understood) but they did take the secondary insurance. I advised her that they needed to bill out the primary insurance to get the denial for the secondary insurance to pay. She became extremely rude with me and would not take either insurance at that point and told me that if I wanted my daughter to be seen I would have to private pay. I became very upset and asked her why I would have to private pay when they in fact took the secondary insurance. I asked to speak with someone in billing and she advised me that (PIEDMONT EXPRESS CARE AT SUTTON ROAD) does not have a billing department. I then asked to speak with someone higher than her. About 5 minutes goes by and then the nurse comes out and she advised me that she would not be able to be seen due to me stating that the secondary would not have been covered if they only billed that alone, because I have a primary that they didnt accept. I then asked to speak to someone in charge. They both left the front area, and agin didnt come back for about 5 mins and then the nurse came back stated the doctor was busy seeing patients (even though there were no patients in the waiting room) . I feel I am being discriminated against due to my insurance, who is based out of NY (CDPHP-Capitol District Physicians Health Plan) and the other is BCBS, both of which have full coverage! These two girls were completely rude and disrespectful that its no wonder the community is fighting to keep Piedmont out. They will not have my support and I then went to a different Urgent Care today and was treated much differently.
