The advertising above states "no long term contract" and this was what my agreement was with the owner. I unfortunately did not read ALL the microscopic terms and founf the contract adds many additional charges and IS A YEAR LONG CONTRACT. When talking to the staff I was treated absolutely rude and with an indifference even stating "we have an iron clad contract so good luck". STAY AWAY...bad business and practices.

After losing my job I asked if I could cancel my membership. Josh worked with me to see if he could but I never got an answer from him. I did receive an unsigned email from khoover saying that i couldn't cancel. I replied and asked him to call me so we could discuss. I never received a reply so I called and Kevin Hoover, who wouldn't actually admit he was Kevin, and he was rude and suggested that I find another gym. I get that the membership may be non cancellable but there was no reason for Kevin to be rude and unprofessional. He even denied sending me the email that was from him email address. I wouldn't recommend doing business with anyone who handles their business this way.

I've been a member at this club for months now, and the place only gets worse: machines are not repaired and rarely cleaned (sanitized), locker rooms are dirty and stink, the staff sit zombie-like in the store, and, perhaps worst of all, personal trainers of members run around like they own the place and act condescendingly toward many of the other members. I'll be finding another place as soon as my membership in this dump expires.

I went to the location in Hendersonville but since it is the same owner I feel I need to warn everyone at all of them. Do NOT go here. This owner does not deserve anyone's money! Though I used the gym regularly for a year and was cancelling on good terms, one phone call with Kevin and a little research compels me to let everyone know not to give your money to this person. This says no long term contract but you have to sign a year then you go on month to month automatically. Please see the issues with cancelling. Also there is no smoothie bar in the Hendersonville location.



They advertise $20 a month, but if you want to be able to go to more than one location, come in before 7am and after 9pm and attend any classes, it is $35 a month. Per the contract, I sent a certified letter within my 30 days notice time. It was returned to me 3 weeks later, 3 delivery notifciations were left and it was unclaimed. The mail carrier said that they have piles of mail. They never pick their stuff up. I called yesterday morning to ask to fax it or drop it off. Kevin immediately got defensive and nasty with me. Told me just to send it cerified again, he always picks his mail up. And it better be within the 30 days. Said I still am and I had sent it 3 weeks ago. Was not comfortable with mailing again in case it happened again. The majority of this conversation, Kevin continuously talked over me every time I tried to speak and then told me not to yell. He told me he didn't need me back there, he was happy that I was cancelling among many other things. He was highly defensive and argumentative. I cannot recall the last time anyone has ever spoken to me like that. He went so far as to mock me and copy me when I said things. He would not work with me at all. No hand-delivery, no faxing. Can only sign EFT cancellation between 8:30 and 3:30 Mon-Thurs when I work 35 miles away. Won't fax form or let my husband pick up so I could take one long lunch opposed to two. I honestly think he was doing all of that on purpose to make it harder on me. There are definitely other people out there that deserve our money. Not this guy. I was floored when I found out he is the owner. He is despicable.



Also, I looked further into The Body Shop. It is AKS Fitness, Inc. d/b/a The Body Shop Fitness Centers. The status with the Secretary of State is "suspended". You can go onto the Secretary website for and look it up. It has been suspended by the NC Department of Revenue since October 31, 2012. Any business done under the corporation name is not valid and also the owner is liable personally for anything that were to happen since the corporation is suspended. I am pretty sure that even means if you get hurt, the company cannot be held liable, you would have to hope Kevin has enough money for your medical bills. Contracts signed between October 31, 2012 and now so far are invalid. Call the Secretary and get confirmation for yourself. I did. If you have any complaints with getting money back or what I am going through, also google Attorney General Consumer Protection and you can file a complaint with them or call and ask questions.
