Artist Statement of Julia S. Rasor Julia is a professional figurative sculptor living in Fallbrook (San Diego County) California who is versatile in a wide range of media - concrete, steel, mesh, ceramics, plaster, bronze, wax, mixed media - and often incorporates found wood and rusty steel artifacts. Her works have been described as dynamic, edgy and dramatic revealing an artist who has melded an intellectual understanding of human physiology and anatomy with a knowledge of industry and machines to create a dichotic style and unique, expressive body of work. SAN DIEGO ARTIST RETREAT, Fallbrook, CA Julia operates the San Diego Artist Retreat. The retreat programs take place in a spectacular rural mountaintop avocado ranch setting offering panoramic views, sunshine and quiet providing an experience that sparks and fosters personal creativity and reflection and refinement of artistic work. Artists collaborate and receive facilitation to plan and produce art that inspires and excites imaginations and strives for excellence. The artist’s ideas and goals are planned collaboratively with the Retreat Director, Julia S. Rasor - the work is reflective of the artist’s own artistic medium and process be it sculpture, painting, design, writing, poetry or music. Three programs of varying duration are offered - workshop, retreat, or a residency. The workshops are held on a daily basis and are presented by the Retreat Director or visiting expert artists. Those selected for a retreat or residency program are provided living and studio space for the session. Contact Julia for a schedule of workshops and application to the retreat and residency programs.
