We had a four bedroom. The layout of the home was poor, but didn't think you could expect better for something in the middle of Alaska. It didn't fit our family of 4-6 very well. The fourth bedroom was the size of a small walk in closet. We could always hear the neighbors washer and dryer. We got a home with a half sized parking place that could have fit a Mini maybe. Two bikes were stolen during summer. We didn't feel safe. The advertising of triple pane windows was inaccurate. Windows always had cold air coming in and the thermostats were preset to no more than 73. It got cold in there! Unwritten and unadvertised policy of black lighting carpet only at move out and charging to recarpet the whole house around $6000. I have only found one person to get their deposits back. The manager was always short when speaking to us and there was an over all feel of being punished for moving out. I would not recommend especially if you want to ever see any of your deposits again.

I wish you could try out a house before you are suckered into a years lease. We moved in to these apartments on a time crunch. I'm satisfied with the overall appearance and safety of this place. However, you don't get a lot of privacy for the amount you pay. The first week here i had little kids peaking into my windows. Also, THE WALLS ARE EXTREMELY THIN!!!!! I can hear every footstep, every laundry load and every conversation from my neighbors. You would think with all the money this place gets they would have thicker walls, or lower rent. So if you have an issue sleeping when its noisy, do not rent from here. If you are a private person, do not rent from here. *** One more thing, they made it a point to state that every house is thoroughly examined after a tenent leaves (They repaint, change carpets, etc). but once we moved in we found a large sized child's poster on one of the doors. I just think that shows how they don't examine and clean as well as they claim to do.

We are actually moving into Birchwood when we move to Fairbanks in about a month or so from the Army. We are reeally excited and have heard great things about this place. I have seen the pictures they look really nice. We are getting a 3bedroom large house for a very good price! With heat being included you cant beat that. We are excited to have three bedrooms as if we lived on base wed only have 2 bedrooms and pay more. I hope after seeing these reviews this is not really want goes on, but the lady I have spoke with (Renee) has been nothing but absolutely awesome to us! She has worked with us even though our dates keep changing while waiting on orders. WIll definately do a follow up when we move in. So excited:)

Please do not move into these apartments! The staff is rude and very nonsociable! We had a worker come into our bedroom at 8:30 am without a call or a ring at the door just to close a window! He did not even apologize for coming into our bedroom! We also did not have heat for the first month of winter because the electric wires were cut, something no one checked before our move in. The house was not clean prior to our move in either, for the price of rent we expected better. Moving out is a nightmare! You will pay for a carpet that has been paid 5 times before you and then you too will pay for this "new" carpet! Please do not move into Birchwood Homes, your better of renting a house or waiting for a house on base! Birchwood gets a F in my book. Take advise from me and others do not move in here!!

I do not recommend living in Birchwood Homes to anyone. Their staff is totally unpleasant and unprofessional which actually made me dread having to contact them for any reason. Their units are extremely overpriced.Their pet deposit rates are astronomical. Birchwood homes extended the lease for my roommate without consulting me using the initial and pet deposit that I made (to the tune of $2500.00) - all without my knowledge! They are refusing to the unit or return any of my deposit.
