I saw my doctor prior to surgery, for surgery and that was it. I was made to see a NP for continued care. I had an injury after replacing my ACL and the doc ordered an MRI which confirmed the new ACL was shedding and being held on by 3 strands. The care I received I felt it wasn't very good at all. The doctor knowing the ACL was failing and I haven't seen him since I got this test results. The nurse practitioner wasn't involved in trying to keep me comfortable infact she told me to rest and keep it elevated and iced. I was doing that anyway but I can't do that for the rest if my life. She said I just had to get used to it! It was going to be a life style change. Nobody wants to sit around everyday all day. My ACL finally snapped completely and they refused treatment because I had filed bankruptcy. I was hit by a truck and almost died. It's 6 years later and I've done my absolute best in trying to get everything paid. My bills were in excess if 250,000.00 I filed on 55,000.00. I showed that I even tried over the course of a few years, so much that the judge didn't want to even keep any money from our tax return. He exact words were "most people wouldn't have done that, they would've filed on the entire amount". This is just another example of medical care gone bad. Going from a service to a business. The physical therapists stopped my care due to it causing more damage than good. The np stopped my care and I'm hanging in the loop with a broken ACL and nowhere to go for treatment. This isn't fun and it seriously isn't pleasant. Just know that regardless of how good the doctor is, it only boils down to money. The compassion has been lost in medical care as a whole and the doctors get away with abandoning their patients daily. Pain control is not anything I'm chasing after I just want it fixed. I do see why people are self medicating though. The doctors aren't worried about your comfort or quality of life anymore, they're worried about how much money they're making.
