What a lousy way to treat a good customer/guest! When I settled into the room and was checking things out a little more, I noticed the microwave contained exploded food but I was just happy that I had a place to stay because it was fishing season that I didn't complain to the management. After all it was a dungeon-like room in the basement without paint on most of the walls and it was missing a lot of molding around the window and door. There was no bathroom in the room just a dirty shared bathroom (that was used by around 6 other rooms) down the hall. The room had a furnace behind a thin accordion door that was starting up constantly and made it difficult to hear the TV or to sleep, and I wouldn't have been surprised to see rats scurrying across the floor. If you stood up straight in the room your head would hit the ceiling. So I didn't think anything would be done about the microwave's food mess even if I did complain. I stayed 2 weeks and I was a very quiet guest that kept to myself and was courteous to the other guests to keep the TV volume turned down low even though they did not extend the same courtesy to me. I emptied my own room's garbage on a regular basis and smiled and waved to the owner every time I saw him. Plus I didn't complain about the invasion of privacy when I locked my room and left for the day and later came back to find the light on in my room (I always turn it off when I left the room) and so I looked around and noticed someone had been in the room because I found the floor fan that was in the room had been removed. Luckily for me my laptop that I left on the bed had not been removed. So it was definitely NOT a four-star experience but to top it all off when I checked out I was told to call them later about getting my $60 room deposit back. When I called I was told that a large portion of my deposit would NOT be returned due to the mess that was left in the microwave. I tried to explain that the mess was there when I checked in and I was told I should have complained when I first noticed it and that there was nothing I could do to convince him to give me my full deposit. So if you stay there I wouldn't expect to get your full deposit back because I'm sure they will find some bogus reason to keep most of it if not all of it. I would NOT recommend staying there at all if you can avoid it. It is no wonder why even during fishing season when all the other motels/hotels were booked with no availability that this place had rooms available. The fisherman have learned better than to stay here! Wish I had read the reviews before staying there. They are changing the name to Blue Dolphin Motel or something like that probably because there are too many bad reviews for the name Hardrock Motel.

This man, Scott X., is a ripp-off artist. He stole my security deposit and kicked me out of his motel the middle of the winter, and had me arrested by the local police when I tried to complain (I called them myself) because I was drinking beer in the motel room. If you want to lose your money and get scammed, talk to this drug-dealer. Advertises constantly in the 'Erie Daily Times' looking for suckers.

Here's his Method of Operation M.O. :

#1) He advertises discount weekly rates in the local newspaper. Upon paying him for one week in advance (about $200 cash only) including an extra $150 security deposit, (which he obviously always keeps), you assume you have a reservation.

#2) When you arrive, he puts you in a smaller addition (shared bathroom facilties) hidden in the back of the Motel.

#3) Asks for additional cash to "UPGRADE" to the regular rooms as shown.

I am shocked that he has not yet been put behind bars permanantly for what he is doing... Classic Predatory Low-Class Motel Scam.....
