This past Friday afternoon my ...

This past Friday afternoon my girlfriend and myself decided to take a night and get away for some relaxing out doors just East of Green Water on Forest Rd 70 where I have been going for many yrs. This time however seemed to end in a very disappointing fashion when we were rudely interrupted by a forest ranger.

At around 1:30 in the afternoon on Saturday a park ranger came sneaking into our camp via the woods. My girlfriend saw him standing in the bushes but thought it was one of our neighboring campers who had just left our camp. We did not pay any attention to him until my dog spotted him lurking about and began to bark and move in his direction. She acted as all dogs do and was curious.

At the time my dog spotted him he pulled out his bottle of pepper spay and covered my dog from head to tail. He continued to spay even as she was running away from him. At that time the ranger started yelling at my girlfriend and reached for his gun as if we had done something wrong. I started walking towards him asking what the hell was going on. He proceeded yelling at both of us. My 7 1/2 month pregnant girlfriend was scared and he demanded that she handle the dog that was covered with spray.

This ranger was out of control. He demanded our address and licenses. We complied with his demands in fear of further action from him. We were quite shook up at the events that were taking place and just wanted him to leave.

We soon packed up camp and had to drive home with a dog covered in pepper spray. The whole time our eyes, mouths, and my girlfriends skin was burning.

In the many yrs I have visited this area and camped, I have never encountered such an event from a ranger. He excuse for spraying was that my dog is within the Pit breed. That is not a justifiable enough reason for his actions toward us or any other camper.

We have children that usually come camping with us and this time I am very happy they did not join us.

What this ranger did was way out of line and I want answers to his actions.

So my review would have to end with an F! Total failure on the rangers part.

I cannot recommend this area as a family outing to anyone with disgruntled rangers who act out in such a behavior.

Whats next? He grabbed for his gun and was going to pull it on my pregnant girlfriend. Will he shoot someone?

To be honest here, if I had a firearm with me on this trip as I usually do, I would have pulled it on him out of fear and protecting my family.
