Amazing Chinese Restaurant

Dim sum was good. Lots of people on weekends. The ocean view itself is amazing. You'll enjoy the walk around the restaurant while you wait for your table.

Customer service is also good. They forgot to put the dessert on our bill so we ended up getting them for free. I also lost my wedding ring in the sink that same day, but they took apart the pipes to get it for me.

Dim Sum Adventure on the Bay

I had dim sum at the Hong Kong EAST OCEAN Restaurant years ago and remembered it as a great dining and cultural experience. We went again this weekend and had another wonderful dim sum brunch.

The menu is the first part of the adventure, it lists 77 dim sum options - many of which inflamed our imagination if not our appetites, such as "Chicken Paws with Spicy Herb Sauce", "Tortoise Plastron and Herbal Jelly" and "Beef Tendons and Honey Comb".

We enjoyed making our choices and then sat back and enjoyed the views of San Francisco, the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin while the items arrived. The "Crispy Shrimp Eggroll", "Rice Noodles stuffed with Beef", and the "Cold Coconut Cakes" were our favorites. The "Pan Fried Rice Noodles with X.O. Sauce" were another delicious item, the noodles rolled into savory tubes.

The items are classified into Small, Medium, Large and Gourmet and priced accordingly at; $2.50, $3.35, $4.25 and 5.75 respectively.

Sometimes we had to check with our waitresses to learn which items on our table matched the choices on our list.

The restaurant is authentic Hong Kong, we were a distinct minority with our white faces and English. It was a glimpse into another culture, at no extra charge. Our bill came to about $55.00 for 11 items - which was too much food for two people, we will scale down to 5 or 6 items next visit, which will be soon.

We had to wait for our "Thousand Layer Cake", but we didn't mind because we were too full to care much whether it showed up or not. Otherwise the service was impeccable and courteous without resorting to any false friendliness or coying sweetness - something I appreciate very much.
