This man is one of the top neurologists in town

Dr. Kaim took care of my mother for over 20 years until her passing this past month. He and his staff have always been very caring. Yes, you may have to wait for a time, but that is because he takes his time with each of the patients he sees. He is an educator for medical students and helps new doctors get aclimated to the El Paso health scene. Dr. Kaim has been on staff at all of the hospitals in El Paso at one time or another and has served as chief of the Neurology departments as well. I have seen some patients be really rude with the staff, and they just continue to respoind in very professional manners. This man is a specialist and if you have been referred to him, it is so that he can do a full evaluation on you. You must be sure and tell him everything about yourself - no matter how small it may be - because it may have some role in what is going on with you. When Dr. Kaim retires, it will leave a large gap in the neurology care here in El Paso.

Absolutely the BEST!

I had been seeing several neurologists and other specialists for a variety of symptoms. Running around to labs and other establishments for batteries of tests became draining and extremely frustrating as no one was able to diagnose me. In fact, one neurologist told me (incorrectly!) I had a devastating disease on the phone at 5pm on a Friday and then told me to "have a nice weekend." I knew something was wrong but had no idea what it could be. Searching the internet only inspired fear as I looked up symptoms and potential diagnoses. A friend recommended Dr. Kaim and suggested I see him as soon as possible. Dr. Kaim gave me the most thorough neurological exam I've ever had, to include a physician in Boston at Brigham Women and Children's Hospital. He looked over the results of my labs and other tests and correctly diagnosed what my health issues were. I received peace of mind not to mention different prescriptions that have allowed me to function better than I had in years. I expect to wait in a doctor's office and have never waited an unreasonable amount of time. I've never felt rushed and he listens intently to me, always asking how I've been feeling and for any changes. Every visit Dr. Kaim reviews my medications, asks how I'm feeling, examines me thoroughly and compares this visit to previous appointments and their results. I worked in healthcare a long time and have yet to find a more thorough, knowledgeable and compassionate physician than Dr. Kaim. Additionally, he keeps up on the latest research and treatments for a variety of illnesses. I'm so thankful that Dr. Kaim diagnosed what was wrong and has gone above and beyond what most physicians typically do. If you want a caring, knowledgeable doctor who is aware of not only current and accepted treatments but looking to the future for upcoming medications then look no further. Dr. Boris Kaim is the absolute BEST!

Diagnosis finally made!

Folks, I had what seemed to me to be a simple health issue. After a year of visiting half a dozen doctors, each of whom referred me to the next doctor, and none of whom could figure out the issue, a friend suggested I visit Dr. Kaim. I was given a thorough physical exam in a professional, yet friendly, manner. He soon reached his diagnosis--two health issues instead of one, and he laid out for a suggested approach to dealing with those issues.

While neither of the issues are ones any of us would want, at least I was on track to understanding what was going on inside. As to one of the issues, I took his advice, and I am still treating that one. The other was more complicated and serious.

Dr. Kaim told me he had a special interest in this disease and that he believed in a new approach to that disease that is much more aggressive that the customary approach. I began as he suggested, and I went out of town to seek a second opinion, which he recommended that I do. This did not seem to bother him.

I received the second opinion at an internationally known clinic, and the diagnosis was confirmed. And, more importantly, the doctor was surprised that somebody in El Paso would be so up to date on the treatment of my disease.

A year later, I was asked to participate in a study in a different well-known clinic. After an exam there, the diagnosis was again confirmed. And again, Dr. Kaim encouraged another diagnosis and cooperated with me and the new clinic.

Now, I will admit that the office visits take too long. However, once I am in session, I do not feel rushed. That is the trade off.

I can't speak for others. I can state that from my perspective, Dr. Kaim was the first of many to finally make a diagnosis for me. I did not like what I heard, but he has been a comfort in helping me understand the situation and in dealing with follow ups.

Thanks.

Very Thorough

I originally saw Dr. Kaim for a seizure disorder. He was thorough and insisted on ruling out anything organic that could be causing the problem. Thanks to his referral for me to get an MRI, a small brain tumor was found early on. He explained everything to me in a way I could understand and helped me to find a surgeon who was right for my brain tumor.

The Best!

Dr. Kaim is a compassionate, caring professional who has been treating me for over four years. He found a life-threatening, large arachnoid cyst on my brain in 2006 that needed to be treated immediately. He guided me in the selection of a competent surgeon and has been following my condition since that time. He is never too busy to see me and spends the necessary time to explain my treatment and the ramifications of my condition. When I had a problem with my insurance, he was very understanding and helped me with a payment plan. Dr. Kaim is a physician who is most concerned with his patients. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone who has a neurological problem.

Compasionate Doctor

I have been seeing Dr. Kaim for over 10 years now. Every time I go into his office he remembers who I am and my condition. He will sit down and talk with you for as long as you need him to. He is a doctor that wants you to feel comfortable in his office and with him. He is a wonderful doctor and I would highly recommend him to anyone with neurological problems.

don't waste your time

I got to my appointment on schedule, they gave me around 10/15 papers to fill out with questions not even related to my condition so I was the last one seen by Dr. Kaim and he didn't even care as he told me: he doesn't make miracles. I guess he only treat easy cases; I wasted three hours there.

A friend of mine had the same experience when we were comparing notes, what a coincidence we were taking about the same doctor.

Sub Par Experience CAUTION

Dr. Kaim cannot even get the respect of his emplpyess much less the patience. He could only be decribed as arrogant and unwilling to take his patients thoughts or history into account. PLEASE be very leary of scheduling with this physician as he is not concerned with patient care and seemingly more comcerned with getting you in and out the door as to rurn a profit.
