If you love your pet do not bring them here

Pet vet and plum creek animal hospital are the same. If I can save even one animal or pet owner from enduring what we did this write up will be worth it. My 18 year male cat was very sick. He vomited several days and stopped eating and drinking. I took him to plum creek. He was very uncomfortable with Dr. Morris as she very roughly tried to examine him while an assistant restrained him by his neck. Doctor was never in danger prior to the rough treatment.Despite this she refused to examine him further and insisted he be sedated before she proceeded because he was "cussing at her". I was surprised and instincts told me something was a little off about this "doctor" (I cant call her that) but desperate to ease my cats suffering I agreed. After they finally give him a basic exam (I,m here 2 hours by now) she says she feels a tumor in his upper GI tract but isn't sure (common theme with her...no definitive answers. wishy washiness). She suggests an enema and that she also has "another idea" as well after enema. After enema she shows me some Easter grass that came out and suggests that "maybe that is it". She suggests I fill out a quality of life form and try to make a decision about whether I should euthanize him. I CAME HERE TO PAY FOR EXPERT ADVICE AND INSTEAD OF GETTING A STRAIGHT ANSWER I GET A FORM WITH QUESTIONS I AM NOT QUALIFIED TO ANSWER!! When she returns I tell her this. She then states she is concerned about a very serious problem because he has lost a third of his weight. She thinks if she prescribes an appetite stimulant and we buy a couple days supply of special food this may turn him around and says if it was her pet she would try. So against my instincts that something was amiss I paid my 300 dollar bill for sedation, exam, enema, mirtaprizine, and a couple days of food with instructions to return in 2 days if nothing changes (I,m a mess at this point 6 hours later so I didnt notice they gave me 2 weeks worth of food at a ridiculous mark up and also charged me for services of employees who "assisted" her???? So now Im paying for the salaries of their employees too????) The meds and food didn't work. I spent the next 2 full days trying to no avail. I waited the full 2 days. I hate myself for trusting her incompetent opinion and waiting that long .I should have trusted my gut cuz I honestly felt this woman was clueless. Thursday I call and tell them its not working. Dr. Morris is not available . 3 HOURS LATER I finally get a call but not from her. They want me to bring him in for more tests! This time an xray that cost 300 dollars AND THEY CANNOT do it TIL TOMORROW!. Meanwhile my friend is in pain and starving to death so after I tell them this they say "we can do it now but you'll have to bring him in right now" I tell them Ill call back. My gut is telling to go somewhere else. So after some research I find a place that can see him right away and charges LESS THAN HALF what they do for the xray. I go there and this vet examines him immediately without issue (or sedation) and within 2 minutes tells me it looks like an obvious case of kidney disease. She says she SMELLED IT AS SOON AS WE BROUGHT HIM IN THE ROOM!!!!!!! We do a blood test and within 15 minutes of walking in the door of this place I find out what is wrong and also that THERE IS NO WAY that any reasonably competent doctor would have advised me to continue to keep this suffering animal alive for even ONE MORE DAY!!! Plum creek convinced me (I hate myself for believing them) to treat a terminally ill animal who had days to live in the best case scenario to keep him alive for the sole purpose of draining my wallet charging me severely inflated prices for unnecessary (and possibly fake) services. I don't know if I will ever get over allowing my best friend...

Pet Vet is the best animal clinic ever. Great staff and very professional. They treated my dogs very well. This is the only place I will ever take mine to.

They are wonderful. Even the doctors make you feel very comfortable - they care! Still a little expensive for being (affordable), but then who isn't now adays?!I think I found the right place :)

I have taken my two cats and dog to Pet Vet several times. The staff is excellent. You are not rushed and they are very caring and knowledgeable. I recommend them to everyone. Also, the rates are quite affordable.

We took our dog there 2-24-2011 that we adopted from the Hammond Animal Control and were very pleased. The staff was friendly and everything clearly explained and I learned some new things, like about giardia testing and leptosporosis. It's a large and clean facility at the end of a strip mall next to a Speedway with a Subway by the street where you turn in. The prices were very reasonable and everything printed on a sheet. They handle routine care, medications, and vaccinations at discounted prices including minor problems and diagnosing illnesses and knowing when more care might be needed at the full size facility that they are affiliated with where surgeries and spaying and neutering is done, which is Plumb Creek Regional Animal Medical Center in Crete, IL.
