Rosen is a flat-fee divorce firm. You make one payment, usually between $6K and $10K and they promise to cover all legal issues concerning the divorce.

In my case I was charged the upper fee since I own a small business that had to be taken into account in the separation agreement. They promised they'd be able to do a valuation of the worth of the business and negotiate a fair value with my ex's lawyer.

What actually happened was after I paid, nothing happened for months even though I provided all the materials they requested. It took them weeks for them to just to scan my corporate tax returns. But once you paid you're locked in and forced to wait since they've got your $10K and they're not giving it back.

As week after week went by it because clear that they were not going to be able to handle negotiating the divorce settlement for me, despite the flat rate billing that promised to do everything.

I had to hire a second lawyer to do the business value analysis Rosen had promised, and rather than bring Rosen in for even more delays personally negotiated a price with my ex. My ex and I were forced to ask around with friends and come up with a custody plan, and we worked out our own agreement which I took to Rosen to write up. If a divorce lawyer bills $250/hour, I don't think Rosen did more than $1,500 of actual work.

After the separation agreement was signed there have been continual issues where I needed a divorce lawyer, and Rosen's policy is you're on your own after that, so I'm having to pay another lawyer to handle the ongoing divorce issues. So, on top of being out $10K for a fraction of actual worth in billable hours, I've had to pay another lawyer to actually take care of the nasty details. So much for their "flat rate" deal.

Under no circumstances would I recommend this firm.
