I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba to a family of healthcare practitioners. My father, uncle and grandfather were all medical doctors, and my grandmother was a pharmacist. I became a medical doctor and practiced in Havana for thirteen years before arriving to the United States in 2006. I speak both Spanish and English fluently, but Spanish is my first language. I decided to go into medicine because I developed an interest in healthcare at an early age, most likely due to the influence of my family member practitioners. I was always impressed by their concern and dedication to their field.
