Fast and friendly service, I would recommend this store to anyone who is looking for a new machine or need yours service. They had mine serviced in 3 or 4 days, and it work better than the first day I bought it!!

Service is Lacking!

I am in the market for a new sewing machine. I used to sew all the time and made a huge variety of things. Other things took the place of sewing, so I haven’t done any for many years now.

I stopped by Metro Sew and Vac’s booth at the state fair twice on two different days. The first time, the ladies there didn’t seem to want to get up from their sewing projects to help me. I asked a few questions, and they were halfway answered (while they stayed seated at their machines), but I soon realized that they really weren’t interested in talking to me.

The next time I stopped by, the same thing happened, but finally a gal managed to get up from her chair to ‘help’ me.
I told her that I want a very basic machine and my price range. I don’t need it to do embroidery, or any heavy duty sewing… just a basic machine without all the bells and whistles. She questioned me several times as to whether or not if I knew what I wanted. (I DO know what I want. I’m not a novice.)

I don’t want to embroider anything….just sew. Mainly clothes and small projects… nothing heavy duty. Either way, once she found out I didn’t want an expensive machine that did embroidery, she didn’t seem too interested in helping me either and just handed me a card.

Very unprofessional.

I am a very PRO ‘Shop Local’ person, and even though their prices are higher than what I could get online, I was willing and prepared to buy. After this experience though, I’ve decided to go elsewhere. I just feel if that is what trying to purchase a machine from them is like, then more than likely their customer service will be lacking as well.

I left very disappointed.

This is the first time I have reviewed a business online but I feel people should know about the experience I had at Metro Sew & Vac. The first time I went in I took an old Singer machine to be cleaned & serviced. No problem with that one. The second time was my 3 year old Baby Lock. It had a malfunction code & since they say they work on all makes I took it there rather than the shop I bought it from. They cleaned it, the code was gone but the machine was still not functioning properly when I got it back. Since they have a "90 day guarantee" on their work I returned it to the store. They called me later that day to say there was nothing wrong with it & acted like I didn't know how to use the machine I have been sewing on for 3 years. I insisted it wasn't right so they apparently looked at it again, called me again and said it needed one of two different things, each costing several hundred dollars. Couldn't get a part price until Monday so they said they would call me on Monday. Monday came & went & no call so on Tuesday I stopped in only to be told "we can't buy Babylock parts so we can't fix it." So since it was broken when I dropped it off they knew it might need parts, how about telling me that before wasting my time?? Oh, that's right, they wanted the $100 it cost for the "cleaning." Needless to say I won't be going back.

Great Experiences w/ Metro

Bob, Sherry, & staff have been kind & knowledgeable, provided good & timely onsite service at a fair price, & have always tried to meet my needs (& help me figure out what they are) at purchase time. I'm happy w/ them, keep going back, & recommend them to my quilter friends. And, no, I didn't know them originally, no special relationship. I was just a new customer walking in off the street.

$40 for a light blub!!!

Stopped in to buy a sewing machine light bulb for my Elna, the first thing that was said "That 's the $40 bulb" . When they did find the bulb the price came done to $20, which is ridiculous. I told them I wanted to buy local but not at that price.Went online when I got home, found the EXACT same bulb for $2.50, so I bought FOUR for $12.76 which included shipping and they will be here in 3 days.

bad service

i called for some advice on a machine i recently bought on craigs list and told the guy what it was doing and he said it might be timing. when i asked him if it was something i could do he was rude when he said it depends on your skill level and i told him i have been sewing for over 40 years and have fixed some he stated i should have fun timing.. and hung up on me..all i did was call for advice. not very professional .. i would not recomend this store to anyone anytime.. they are rude.

Satisfied

I have worked with Metro Sales and service for over ten years. They service my sewing machine and repaired my Little Green Machine. I purchased both my sewing machines there and received excellent deals. They followed up with individual lesson. One time I brought my sewing machine in and they fixed it over my lunch hours so I didn't have to make a second trip to the store. This is not a fancy store but it is a good business because of their service.
