Mile High helped us to create a custom landscape that was affordable and best suited for our unique city space. Will and his team were receptive to our needs and the installation turned out beautiful and ahead of schedule! They helped turn our back patio into a little oasis in heart of Denver where we can now entertain friends, as well as transform our dog run into a lush area for our doberman to enjoy using some of their highest quality turf - that stuff is incredible! Needless to say, we could not be more pleased with the result and how Will's design became a reality. We plan on using his team for future projects knowing the quality we will receive within the timeframe given and could not be happier with the outcome!

We were recommended to Mile High Landscaping by a friend for our home. When we met with Will he was professional and listened earnestly. We provided him with images of styles and ideas we liked. After a few weeks he presented his idea to us and we loved it. The scope was far too big to complete in one project so we phased it and began work on the first phase the following spring, it could’ve been earlier but we wanted a sand finish on the concrete - this requires higher temps than other finishes. The crews were great though we had one build issue. We worked with Will and his team and made lemonade from lemons. He made it right and we all ended up with a better design in the end!

After living with phase 1 for the last 3 years (and getting constant compliments on the patio and pergola) we are now ready to complete the project with Will. We met recently and are excited to make some small updates to our design. We spent time going over desired budget and reworked areas to save cost here and “do it right” or splurge there. We are looking forward to continuing to work with Will and his team.

There aren’t enough words. I explored many options for designing and implementing a major landscaping project for my mid-century modern home, including hiring a landscape architect to design and manage the project, to utilizing a design/build company that would do it all. It was clear that each option had pros and cons and there was no clear answer at the outset. The stakes seemed high: my property was overrun by juniper shrubs that had not been touched in close to 60 years. There were portions of the quarter-acre property that probably hadn’t been touched by human feet in decades. The house itself was completely remodeled prior to my purchase of it — it is a local mid-century gem and so deserved to have landscaping that honors it vs. detracting from it. I knew this would be a major project and I desperately wanted to work with someone who cared as much about this place as I do (or almost as much, anyway).

Enter Will Hyde and Mile High Landscaping. After all those interviews with architects and other design/build companies, it became clear that this was my best option. Will is extremely knowledgeable, experienced, easy to get along with, and he listens as well as he advises. He’s a phenomenal designer who has hired and trained other phenomenal designers. The man is honest. I mean truly honest. There were many opportunities for Will or his employees to do the wrong thing — hiccups and the unexpected that come up naturally. And every single time they had the opportunity to choose, they did the right thing. Even when they didn’t know I was watching. It was simply astonishing, and so heartening, to witness people who cared about the work, took pride in it, worked well together, and communicated well and often.

Here’s something else that could be easy to overlook: the owner’s relationship with his crew. I met at least three of Will’s foremen during the time my project was underway. They, too, were honest and knowledgable, as well as respectful of me and my home. And the guys who worked for them — essentially the laborers — were all clearly happy in their work, took pride in it, and got along well with those who were senior to them. I never saw a person do something halfway, and I often saw someone go above and beyond. I never heard a whispered complaint or saw an expression of frustration or anger. Everyone just seemed to get along, support each other, and know what needed to happen for the job to be a success. Over the months it took to complete the project, I saw the same faces. There appears to be no revolving door of crew at Mile High.

Engaging in a project of the magnitude of this one was scary — it was a significant commitment financially as well as in time and attention. Working with Will and his team was a delight, even when the inevitable challenges arose. It’s so important to work with people one can trust who will adjust as things evolve on the project. I am so glad I took the time and effort to find and ultimately decide to hire Will and Mile High Landscaping. I will honestly say that going forward, whenever someone tells me they’re planning a landscaping project and are considering any other company than Mile High, I will respond “Why the heck would you do that?” The appearance of my beloved home is testimony to Will’s design and implementation skills. But the experience of working with Mile High can’t be seen. From my experience there is every reason imaginable to hire these guys.

I had my entire back yard landscaped by Mile High and, from the first contact, I was blown away by their professionalism, creativity and responsiveness. Even after the amazingly beautiful actual work was completed, they stayed in touch and have been continually helpful with any needed tweaks, such as replacing bulbs in the landscape lights and resetting the water feature when it settled and become slightly uneven... all free of charge! I very highly recommend them.

We are so thrilled with Mile High`s transformation of our backyard. Mile High`s work was impeccable. They listened to our needs and respected our budget. The crew worked quickly and with true craftsmanship. Will was prompt with communication and kept us informed every step of the way. We love our new patio, fire feature and arbor. We added lighting which brings such a warm and intimate feeling to the space. We finally have the back yard of our dreams!

After some research on-line we selected a few landscape design/build contractors to interview. Mile High Landscaping was first on our list and we met with the owner Will Hyde at our home. It was evident from the start that we had found our guy. Will has great vision and had a sense of our expectations. Right away we felt that he was not only in tune with our ideas but would be someone with whom we could easily communicate.

Our lot was going to be a challenge as the grade was fairly steep and the existing swales made for some tricky design decisions. Will and his design team put together a plan that we didn't envision and the end result was amazing. Our expectations were far exceeded and now months later we are watching as this living art grows before us! Because of the stunning results we were able to meet all of our new neighbors as they were equally amazed.

The project took about a month to create of which 75% of the time was spent in grading and setting some 40 tons of large boulders and 10 tons of flagstone. Will personally oversaw the installation of the flagstone steps and bridges and his enthusiasm was infectious. It was clear that he wanted the very best for us and to create a masterpiece; mission accomplished!

The crew was quite professional and their expertise in every aspect of the project was exceptional. The irregular flagstone patio and fire pit was quite a chore but was done with the greatest attention to detail. The project foreman himself was a soils engineer and landscape architect. He expertly carried out the vision set forth by the design team in addition to making on-the-fly decisions that were called for by the nature of the terrain.

The real eye opener is when the planting begins. We trusted Mile High to select the various trees, shrubs and plantings and all are beautiful and fit with the entire vision perfectly. In one day this dirt was transformed into an oasis!

If you’re looking to create an amazing, custom-designed landscape project working with an enthusiastic designer who has an eye for detail, then take a look at Mile High Landscaping. Our salesmen was creative, knowledgeable, and was a match from the start. He listened carefully to our ideas and reviewed photos my wife and I had pulled from various websites and magazines. Our initial meeting was at our home. Our backyard is about 2500 square feet. He immediately had a vision. He began to sketch. His excitement was contagious. He showed us some of his ideas and we were hooked.
 
I worked construction before becoming a physician. There are some very important considerations to take into account before hiring a contractor. We saw photos of previously completed backyard projects. We spoke to people who had used Mile High Landscaping in the past. The sales and production team at Mile High kept in excellent communication. Our project lead heard our ideas and incorporated them into his. In a few weeks we had a large architectural drawing of the backyard concept. It was better than we had hoped. Our salesman provided full and clear itemized estimates. He talked us through how he subcontracts some of the work and how the process would progress. Having a cohesive team manage the entire process from design to completion is critical. Our salesman introduced us to the concrete, electrical and gas subcontractors. Each of them showed up on time and completed their part of the project on budget and without issue.
 
I have to say that Mile High’s design and execution exceeded our expectations… and our expectations were set high. Will Hyde designed an oasis. A 12-foot-long, five-foot-high, 2.5-foot-wide central monolithic fireplace is surrounded by the most modern-looking integral charcoal-colored poured concrete I’ve ever seen. Decorative linear cuts segment the multilevel patio and steppers. A powder-coated steel planter bed draws the eye, topped with a grey stone water feature. Framing the left and right of the patio are two massive pergolas, each supported on one side only, cantilevered over the concrete. Each was custom designed and engineered, constructed of steel I beams and cedar. Throughout this innovative design are thoughtfully placed warm LED path lights and warm LED up lights, each with their own purpose and intention.
 
Mile High Landscaping has been a pleasure to work with. Our designer brought a creative energy and enthusiasm that we really appreciated. His attention to detail and project execution was excellent. Mile High Landscaping is also connected with Creative Living, a modern interior and exterior home décor store. It is a wonderful place to find all the decorative accessories that really finish an outdoor space, changing a backyard not only into a functional space but one that deserves to be lived in.ÂÂ

Over this past summer (2015) we contracted Mile High Landscaping to completely remodel our back yard. Instead of an actual review we felt it would be more telling if we just posted our honest, heartfelt gratitude for an excellent job and a wonderful, fun experience (something one might not associate with big remodeling projects). We thoroughly enjoyed the entire process from consultation to completion. Will Hyde and Tyler Prout gave honest feedback on our initial wish list which culminated in a concept that was realistic to our budget and one that would maximize the value added to our home. Then they took that concept and made a concrete design that matched exactly what we had pictured in our dreams and more (special credit to Tyler and the hand-drawn designs, it is obvious the care and effort that goes into each design if they are hand-drawn in that quality). Tyler was very patient and diligent in listing out costs and options from here so that we could get the most from our budget. Once the work began everything was completed with care and quality and every Mile High employee acted with the utmost professionalism. The work was done quickly in accordance with our requested timeline but also it was done well. The finished product is beautiful, unique, and exactly what we had hoped for.In the end we still can’t say thank you enough to Will, Tyler, and every Mile High employee that we worked with. It was fun to conceive, design, and watch the transformation of our back yard with them. We always felt valued and their care for the quality of work and the personal experience was exceptional. We now have something that isn’t just a better back yard, but it is our own, unique, outdoor living space with a ton of little touches that make it special to us and beautiful all around. After doing an extensive amount of research, we decided to call Mile High to request a consultation. We were told over the phone we needed to be committed to paying for their initial consultation (no initial consultation without a substantial fee). Every other landscape company we called was willing to conduct an initial consultation with no fees, the same process we went through last year with our kitchen remodel. How do you know if you want to commit to a company when they haven't even viewed your property? It seems Mile High probably didn't want our business from the "get go." The worst part was when we were told we were taking too much of their time on the phone and that it was time the company wouldn't get paid for, basically "get off the phone and find another company." Very disappointing service, or, lack of service.

Mile High Landscaping designed and built a concrete patio, arbor, water feature, fire pit, and landscaping (plants, trees, sod) for my backyard. They gave me a complete design. I never imagined I would have a yard that is magazine worthy. Will and his team worked within my budget and found creative, one of a kind features to suit my style.
