Comedy Works has been Denver's premier destination for the very best in stand-up comedy since 1981. As one of the nation's true comedy landmarks, we routinely attract the country's top comedians. We also enjoy a strong reputation for developing new acts and fostering a talented base of local comedians. Many of our homegrown acts have become major forces in the national comedy scene, appearing on Comedy Central, The Tonight Show, Craig Ferguson, and Last Comic Standing, which our very own Josh Blue won.Comedy Works has been Denver's premier destination for the very best in stand-up comedy since 1981. Good Food, Funny Shows, But Lousy Seats

The food was awesome, the drinks were good and the comedians were hilarious at least on the nights we went. The only thing I really hated was the spacing between the seats and the uncomfortable nature of the seats themselves. I'm a skinny lil gal myself and just having an average sized guy and average sized girl next to me made me feel clostrophobic due to the extremely packed nature of their seating. The first time we went I was utterly disapointed that the seating arrangements weren't set up as actual tables or booths but rather like ultra cheap movie seats (not the cool big ones they have these days) or worse yet school auditorium seating. After seeing comedy venues on TV in shows like Seinfeld and Family guy, as well as in reviews and magazines always looking more like a lounge setting with round tables, I was extremely disapointed in the seating arrangements, but that was my only complaint.

Don't laugh too loud. . .

No offense to the comedians (the only good thing about Comedy Works), but this place is HORRIBLE! Beware if you laugh loud or have more than one drink! The off-duty police officers/bouncers will throw you out and call the cops. I attended the George Lopez secret show in December 2007. It was the worst experience ever! Ten minutes into the show (and two seconds after we paid our tab), we were asked to leave for laughing too loud. Isn't that the whole concept of a comedy club - to laugh out loud and have a good time?!? When we asked about having our tickets refunded we were rudely refused and throw out of the club to the cops waiting to abuse and arrest us. When we called the next day to get some explanation for what happened, they placed all blame on the performer. I find that hard to believe since a group of friends had an identical experience four weeks later when seeing a different performer. I wouldn't recommend the Comedy Works to anyone! We sure didn't get what we paid for.
