EmailBay Speed Center initially started as a two man operation in 1970. At that time the main focus was building high performance engines for circle track customers. It soon became a part-time one man operation and with the addition of various machines, Bay Speed Center soon out grew the backyard garage. In 1978, Mike Schmelzer decided to quit his full time machinist job to build the business and moved to the current De Pere site where he built a new 40'X60' shop.
