Tri-County Council of Western Maryland is a regional economic development organization representing Allegany, Garrett, and Washington counties in Western Maryland. The Council is governed by a Board of Directors, which includes representatives from both the public and private sectors. In 1971, the Appalachian Regional Commission designated the Tri-County Council of Western Maryland as a Local Development District. The next year, the Economic Development Administration of the U.S. Department of Commerce made Tri-County Council an Economic Development District. For over 30 years, we have been successfully utilizing state and federal resources and programs to carry out an annual investment strategy across the region. This Web site is designed to provide current information on how the Tri-County Council can assist with business development and expansion efforts in the Western Maryland area as well as updates on our current initiatives, and commonly requested applications and forms that can be downloaded directly from the site.
