Laser: One of the most popular ways to remove caries today is with the use of our Versawave Erbium-Yag Laser. It is a hard/soft tissue laser that can effectively remove decay without the use of anesthetic. Used primarily for our pediatric patients, it can selectively be used on certain adults also. The primary benefits are to ease anxiety for patients that are reluctant to get anesthetized and that don?t want the ?numb? feeling. There are no contraindications and patients do not have to wait to eat or drink. Nitrous Oxide: Commonly known as ?laughing gas,? nitrous oxide is a safe form of inhalation sedation. Used in combination with oxygen, it is administered thru a scented nosepiece. Onset is rapid and effects dissipate quickly when it is removed. There are no contraindications other than if you have breathing difficulties or are pregnant.
