Shortly after buying the house...

Shortly after buying the house Reliance had to come out and refill the Freon and replace the filter that had been crushed in by the unit. They had to come a few times to replace the filter because the design, by their own admission, is flawed. I told them every time they come that these units will not hold 72 degrees when its hot outside. The explanation from Reliance was the downstairs was a heat pump that was more efficient at heating than cooling and that the upstairs was the more efficient system for cool, not heating, but that its just going to struggle with this Georgia heat. I accepted the explanation after a year of dealing with them and gave up. Now both units are broken and frozen. I called Reliance Friday and they wanted me to call back Monday. I called Monday and they said they couldn't come out until Wednesday and that it would not be covered under warranty. I explained it was an issue from the beginning but they didn't care. Since I was going to pay someone at this point anyway, I called a different company out who could possibly give me some real answers. They found a faulty part on each unit that, in his opinion, was there to begin with. The part on the heat pump is a known issue with those units, and the other unit part is the cause for the low Freon from the beginning, but has gotten worst with time. (This company has fixed multiple units in this subdivision with the same problem.) Although I understand its not something I can prove and it is now out of warranty, I feel this is an issue from the beginning that was never handled correctly. The parts are under warranty but its going to cost over $1,000 in labor and Freon. To me both Ac's breaking down in two years is not really something you would expect with a new home. The Reliance manger I talked to yesterday finally returned my call, but after taking my information, did not seem like he cared to help and than apparently went home without updating me. Five days in this heat, with both of my units broken, apparently doesn't warrant any customer service. Different company came out to fix it and all of us sudden it works great and I A/C, even with 105 outside. They however found defective parts and paper inside the units. One of paper was actually burnt from the gas furnace causing a major hazard.
