Families First is one of the California s largest mental health service providers that offers a range of services for emotionally disturbed, abused, neglected, developmentally disabled and behaviorally challenged families and children. Founded in 1974, it administers the Kinship Program, which includes supportive, family-centered services for relative caregivers and grandmothers. The Kinship Program provides services through various kinship sites that serve as resource centers and provide a variety of services in the areas of case management, respite, guardianship assistance and tutoring. The program also offers recreational, advocacy, emergency financial assistance, and information and referral services. Families First conducts various foster care, adoption, residential treatment and transitional housing services. It provides 24-hour psychiatric treatment to emotionally disturbed boys between the ages of 8 and 15 through the Residential Treatment Program (RTP). The agency is approved by The Council on Accreditation. Families First maintains a location in Concord, Calif.
