Jamie is a nice guy and fairly easy to work with most of the time. He almost always answers his phone when you call which I really appreciate!!! I just bought an older fixer upper and have a lot of little projects and a few major ones that I wanted to taken care of before my family and I move in. I was looking to have some asbestos removed from the furnace vents in the basement, a slider door installed to the backyard from the dining room, gutters placed on the house, loose siding fixed, window AC installed in-the-wall and work done on my sump pump (it just needed to be plumbed outside of the house and have a dedicated outlet installed for it per the inspectors suggestion. Jamie was able to come out and quote the jobs relatively quickly. However it took him several weeks to start my projects. He did not do asbestos so I had another company do that, they were out to the house and had it all removed two days after contacting them. We had the water turned on and decided to replace all of the old iron pipes with pex and install a new water heater. Jamie cancelled the work on the day he said he would start and pushed it back a few days because he was very busy with other jobs that were running behind schedule. Our plumber was very professional and had all of the old iron pipes removed and replaced with pex in a day’s worth of very hard work, all before Jamie even started on our slider. He said it would take a day to do the slider, AC unit, sump and measurements / quotes for the gutters. It took two days for him to install the slider door, he no longer wanted to install the window AC unit in the wall for fear of it leaking so we installed it ourselves in the window. Granted our home is not cookie cutter as it is more than 100 years old and has very old sturdy bones. We never received measurements or a quote for the gutters or having the siding fixed after several heartfelt requests, and he never mentioned any of the other quoted work again. =/

We now have a very nice slider installed for $710.00. We paid less than $800 for the door. We have to do all of the finishing work on the inside ourselves but the outside is finished and looks quite nice. However we have a Very large chunk of wall in our backyard as a "deck". Although it was not in the quote I did not expect to be left with that and was not sure how I was going to dispose of it. I am not sure if this is common practice in the construction trade or not but I would assume not. All of our friends and family thought it was odd and there is now a buzz in our neighborhood because no one expected that our contractor would leave the wall behind like that. It is just not something anyone would expect an experienced professional contractor to do. I wish he would have at the very least let us know that we would have to deal with that before he took on the job, and gave us options to take care of it because we would have paid a little extra for its disposal. Luckily we purchased a house in a wonderful neighborhood, we are very thankful the neighbors are helping us dispose of our wall.

Overall we are happy to have our new slider installed for the dogs to have access to the backyard and have found someone else through a recommendation who is able to get the other work that we need doing done on a much faster timetable so that we can simply enjoy our new home when we move in. Jamie is not the worst builder out there but he isn’t the best either. He was a friendly, professional seeming guy whom I hope gets better with more experience.
