What a wonderful program!!!

My husband and I acquired a 10 week old German Shorthaired Pointer the day we moved to Colorado from Florida. Our wonderful pup was a joy and a pleasure....aside from his rambunctious and, at times, destructive hyper spurts. Doug taught us and our lovely GSP, Bruder, how to channel that natural energy and work with it to develop an obedient personality and fun loving attitude. Bruder is 6 months old now and despite his ADD-ish demeanor, he obeys most commands within 1 request. Doug is such an excellent pack leader and Bruder has learned more about behaving, calming himself and introducing himself to an older, higher-ranking dog in just 1 pack session than he has learned his entire life...LITERALLY!Doug is wonderful and his program is phenomenal! We are so pleased!!!

Doug is brilliant and the ultimate pack leader

My dog has gone through both her private sessions and is 4 classes into the pack meetings. I am already seeing a difference in her. Doug can read the dogs body language like no one else I have ever seen. He commands the room, knows what is going on with each dog and why, and is able to structure each lesson so the dogs are exposed to what they need most. I can not recommend this training method and Doug highly enough!

Sign up now and have the best dog possible!

In Sep 2010, I took my Border Collie, who'd spent his entire first 7.5 months in a crate (so he wouldn't get into trouble) and then 3 weeks with a dog that would start to play and then attack. My adopted dog was terrified of anything he'd never seen before (pretty much everything) and any dog who tried to play with him). I met Doug at a pet expo and called shortly thereafter to schedule an evaluation. At the evaluation I learned more about why dogs behave as they do and how they think than I ever had before. I signed up for training and had the first of 2 private classes that month. Then life happened and I was unable to return for the 2nd class for 13 months. Throughout the 13 months I continued the training exercises Doug told me to use and when I finally got back for the 2nd class, my dog had progressed so that he was ready to attend neighborhood pack.Neighborhood pack is a wonderful place and works wonders for all dogs, no matter what issues they have. Doug always asks everyone what concerns they have about their dogs and then we do exercises to desensitize them. I've seen very dramatic changes in my dog, who is now one of the senior dogs and a pack leader, and in many other dogs. Shy dogs develop confidence, aggressive dogs learn correct body language and language skills, noisy dogs learn how to be quiet, fearful dogs learn that they have nothing to fear, and owners learn how to understand their dogs better than they ever thought possible. I still take my Border Collie to neighborhood pack because it's good for both of us and we enjoy it. I love to see the huge improvements that most dogs make when they attend group. In addition, because Doug thinks that once you've trained one dog with him you should be able to train the next one himself, I've self-trained my youngest and newest dog. I took her to Doug to be evaluated for neighborhood pack attendance and she passed. Because my first dog helped train the 2nd one, it was fairly easy to get her to the point that she could go into neighborhood pack where I'm sure her fear of men will be erased as we go along. She's been twice now and has done beautifully. You can't go wrong with Doug and PPMIM!

Dog Training at it's best!

My husband & I have raised two puppies without any problems...& then came Riley. She was an adorable 7 1/2 week old Aussie/Border Collie mix.(she looks like a Border Collie) We took her to our vet and she was so "adorable and healthy." Well, adorable turned to "horrible" right a way. At 6 mos old, we took her in to be spayed. It was then that we found out that Riley "was a holy terror!" When Dr. McCardy suggested that Riley could use some "professional training" & had heard from several owners that PPMIM was great. I called and spoke to Doug Kelton, the owner & trainer. I took Riley in for a free consultation. It lasted a little over an hr. During that time, Riley was on "steady point" while Doug asked me about issues, what we hoped to gain, etc. In the middle of a conversation he'd say "good quiet" or 'good easy, good sit" to Riley. I was kind of shocked to hear that Riley was submissive and shy, but it was true. By the time I left, Riley was acting respectfully upon approach. She sat quietly. That in itself was amazing. You get 2 private lessons (3hrs then 2hrs) It's more about training dog owners than the dog itself. If you do what Doug has asked you to do at home, you will see a difference in your dog's behavior. If you have any issues with your dog, he will focus on specifics. Doug has trained a lot of puppies and dogs over the past 4 yrs, and no matter how cute your puppy or dog is (aren't they all?) "cute doesn't work" & while he may whisper to you, puppies and dogs will not get away with the "cute factor." Just within that period of time, there was tremendous improvement with Riley obeying commands. The next part of training is the "neighborhood pack." (your dog will be in private sessions until Doug feels they are ready for this next step) I don't know what I expected, but It wasn't seeing owners sitting along the walls of the arena with each dog kept on a 6' leash. Doug introduces each dog, talks about their breed, and then each owner is asked what concerns they may have with their dog. Those are addressed with special training immediately. There are aggressive dogs, shy dogs, playful dogs, fearful dogs, dogs who have anxiety & dogs who consistantly bark. He pegged Riley correctly since day one. She was afraid of all the dogs barking and would try to hide, or jump into my lap. All of the dogs are allowed to bark at the beginning of the class, but once it has started, they are reminded that they need to be quiet. During the pack sessions, dogs continue training lessons, except it's within the pack classes. (if at any time you feel your dog needs more training, you can call Doug and he will give as many private sessions your dog may need at no extra charge) I could tell Riley really wanted to make friends with other dogs. She'd go up to the dog sitting next to us, but if it wanted to play, or growled at her, she'd back off. It took several times, but eventually Riley started at least touching noses with the other dogs. Then she was actually playing with another dog. What was most amazing to me, was when Riley touched noses with a huge Great Dane who barks aggressively. Riley has made tremendous strides. She sits quietly (we're still working on her jumping up on people she greets & her shyness) and has come out of her shell. I almost cried when the lightbulb went off in my head. Ah~ha! Now, I understood what this pack class was all about. Each dog is consistantly praised for good behavior. They quickly understand that if they behave in a certain way they are rewarded with hugs and lots of attention. At the end of every session, dogs are given an exercise with a reward of a piece of a hot dog. I have Menieres Disease, which makes it challenging for me to do some of the tasks with Riley in pack lessons. Doug acknowledges that & ...

Confident of future results

My 4 month old labradoodle is currently in training at Pikes Peak Manners in Minutes. I am thrilled with the results thus far. The initial evaluation helped us learn about the process and gave us valuable information about our dog. The Neighborhood Pack makes total sense! What better way to train dogs than with/by other dogs? I was not interested in clickers, excessive bribing with treats, or pet store classes. The Pack allows dogs to be dogs in a controlled environment and helps them learn how to behave around other dogs they will meet in daily life. The Adult Classes explain the rules to the dog and help train the owner in the new methods. My pup is still young and has a long way to go, but Doug obviously stays by his commitment to never give up on a dog and to take as much time as necessary to figure it all out.

Big Boxer

My husband and I are so pleased with the results of our dogs training classes with Doug. Before we came to manners in minutes we were afraid our 9mo old boxer Wilson was going to pull our arms out when we walked him. He just kept getting bigger and stronger and we knew if we were going to provide him with the exercise he needed, we'd better get him trained. We were amazed at the results. Within the first week our boxer no longer pulled on his leash. He is more confident, calm and so willing to please us. Doug is the real deal he makes sense. He has helped us to understand our boxer and to give him the instruction that he needs. Thanks Doug were having so much fun!

This Puppy Class makes house training enjoyable

Recently I took my older Sheltie to Doug and had huge results--wish we would have gone sooner. So when we got a new puppy we thought we would start right. Doug's puppy class was tailored to our puppy's breed and our family needs. He even included our sheltie in the training. The stuff he teaches is not in a book or franchise training, but comes from years of experience and a love for dogs. If you want a lifelong friend rather than a house guest---Go to PPMIM (you will not regret it).

The best decision we've made for our dog, results nothing short of amazing

My wife and I were "adopted" by a stray catahoula, which we named Murray. His behavior in the first few weeks seemed fine, but after he tried to bite the vet when he tried to pet him on the head, we learned of his severe trust issues. It was a side of him we hadn't seen and we were devastated. We brought Murray to Doug who helped us understand Murray's behavior and, with great patience and dilligence, worked through Murray's trust issues. The pack sessions reinforced these positive lessons and in the months that followed, Murray truly was a new dog. His improved confidence and pride are incredible, his fears are gone.Doug is patient and thorough, his methods never cruel or inhumane. The owners are a part of every step of training. Being a better dog owner, understanding dog behavior and its causes are important parts of Doug's program and had a huge impact in Murray's success. I highly recommend Pike's Peak Manners in Minutes.

He loves you dog, best natural trainer

Doug's program is designed so both you and your dog will succeed. Intensive training, seminars, and "group dog therapy" create an environment where your dog wants to "get it" and you are equipped so he/she does. I brought Toby in because he was nipping. Doug diagnosed the problem as trust, confidence, and partly because he is a herding dog---and he was right on. I learn something new each group session I/we attend and am better equipped to be a loving owner. Why send your dog to Guantanamo, when you can do it at home. I highly recommend this program and will take my next best friend to Doug.

Very pleased!!

We took our 6 year old rescue schnauzer/bulldog to PPMIM to be trained. Fatboy was more than difficult to take on walks, to the groomer, to the vet......anywhere where he might encounter another dog or an unfamiliar person. He pulled, snarled, barked and charged others regularly. Since the first session of training with Doug, Fatboy has responded to the commands/praise beyond our expectations. We have learned exactly what to do to help him settle down in these environments and behave appropriately. The methods taught have made a HUGE difference in our daily lives. I HIGHLY recommend PPMIM to anyone looking to train their dog!

TOTALLY WORTH IT!

I have "Yappers"= small dogs with big dog attitudes! They bark at everything, pee on everything, don't listen to me when we go on walks and in general were making people avoid being around me when they were around. The male even tried to bite my fiance a few times! So I've read all the reviews out there and decided to bring in my over protective little dogs that think they are big dogs and bark non-stop in to see Doug...Doug is AMAZING! You start to understand why your dogs do what they do and why what you do doesn't work! My dogs are improving daily and everyone in the family is much happier and can communicate better with each other! Communication is key to every relationship- Doug helps you communicate with your dogs! He addresses every issue you have with your dogs and doesn't stop working with you until everyone has it down- including you!I HIGHLY recommend him and his training it's worth every penny!!

Real Results

Manners in Minutes was my "last ditch effort" with my 10 year old minpin. I was about to give up all hope as he had so many issues and was getting much worse since we became full time RV'ers. We have only been doing the training for about a month and a half and already he has been desensitized to other people and other animals. We are now working on the severe separation anxiety issues. I have tried other methods to no avail. I like the idea that this one is "natural pack-based training". It REALLY works and Doug REALLY cares.

Amazing!

My husband and I were at the end of our patience with our GSP. He had too much energy, but walking him was such a terrible experience, that we didn't even want to take him. After one session with Pikes Peak Manners in Minutes trainer, Doug, our GSP was walking better, listening better, and generally BEING better. He's not perfect, but we no longer worry about taking him for walks. The results are amazing, so far. Doug knew tons about doggy minds, and had so many interesting insights in my dogs' crazy behaviors. Our other dog was more calm and happy within the first session. Doug explained the reason for his training method, and it made so much sense. He talked about pack mentality and how to establish dominance. We look forward to our future sessions, because we know that it will only teach our dogs better behavior, which will make us and them happier!

Best trainer in town!

I brought my American pit bull terrier to Pike's Peak manners in minutes and in just one session saw a great improvement in my dog! After practicing the commands with him, and working on the techniques I learned at the center for a few days, brought Romeo back and had even greater results! Great trainer, great location, flexible schedule!!!! I would recommend everyone to the facility- you learn sooo much about your dog and its behaviors and how to improve your relationship together!

Dog training for the rest of us.

Manners in Minutes is well-nigh miraculous. Our skittish, stubborn, aggressive dog was walking calmly on leash before the end of the first lesson without pulling, and the improvements have continued. The system is easy to use, gentle, and completely effective. Our dog is a real joy to be around and has confidence without being aggressive with either humans or other dogs. The instruction style is relaxed and non-regimented, and the training works with the dog's natural psychology rather than against it. The system is so flexible and versatile, it might even work on cats.

Outstanding Training System

We have two dogs trained using the Manners in Minutes training system. Other obedience trainers are amazed.###I have worked with Doug several times and he knows his stuff. You will love your trained dog.
