The Colorado Springs Police Department provides law enforcement services. The department is publicly funded. In addition to providing law enforcement, the department maintains statistics pertaining to crime, including arrests, aggravated assaults, burglary, calls for service, clearance rates for various crimes, crime comparison indexes, larcenies, methamphetamine laboratory seizures, motor vehicle thefts, murders, rapes and robberies. The department also maintains the community s sex-offender registry. The department is organized into bureaus and divisions that report directly to the chief of police. The operations-support bureau is comprised of several divisions that provide a range of services, including investigations of major crimes, parking enforcement and crime laboratory services. The department s patrol bureau provides such services as traffic control, neighborhood watch and crime prevention. The department is a division of the city government of Colorado Springs, Colo. The department's station at 7850 Goddard Street serves the northwest area of the city.
