I would not recommend 5 Star or use 5 Star again.
Three out of the four movers were very nice and friendly. One out the four movers was extremely efficient. He used straps to carry two boxes at a time.
The lead mover was not honest. He claimed at the seven hour mark (on the move-out day) that the second truck was full and they were done for the day. It was not full. They were tired and wanted to be done for the day. He left us "up the creek". We had to figure out how we were going to move the rest of our belongings since 5 Star didn't care. I took photos when the movers opened up the second truck on the move-in day for proof that it was not full.
For the first half of the move-out day the movers were efficient. During the second half of the move-out day the movers took many breaks and were very slow. They were definitely not worth $215 an hour!
The house we moved out of had many stairs inside and outside. Access was difficult. We let 5 Star know this upfront over the phone. 5 Star was not concerned until the lead mover showed up on the move-out day.
The lead mover claimed we had many belongings not on the list, including a basketball hoop. The basketball hoop was the only belonging my wife forgot to tell 5 Star about over the phone. The lead mover refused to move the basketball hoop. He claimed it was "infested with yellow jackets and brown recluses". I believe this was a lie. I hired someone from Craigslist to move the basketball hoop and they did not complain.
There were other things that I could have overlooked if the rest of the experience was good. They shrink-wrapped the leather couch OUTSIDE after maneuvering it through a tight stairwell and a tight doorway. I would think you would shrink-wrap it BEFORE carrying it outside to prevent scratches/damage to the couch. They dumped items from my nightstand on the floor in a pile. At first they said they would shrink-wrap my wife's jewelry case as-is. Then they changed their mind and said to remove the jewelry from the case. My wife removed the jewelry quickly. Then they didn't even bother to move/load the jewelry case.
I recommend using a different moving company. I would never use 5 Star again.

My wife who is six months pregnant and I, with our three year old and dog, traveled 1,000 miles from a town in Iowa to Colorado Springs. In Iowa we left all of our family and friends and came out here knowing no one. That being said, we have had to rely heavily on all companies that we have had to hire to assist us with our move, but 5 Star was less than reliable. In fact, they were more harm than good. The movers were supposed to show up at 10:30 am immediately after we closed on our house. However, only one guy showed up at 11:15 (because, yes, they charge you from the time their staff apparently leaves their office) and the second guy showed up over an hour late because he had to stop at the local park to pray. Don't be fooled, however, because this guy was less than godly. The first thing the second mover did upon his arrival was took me aside and explained to me that 5 star was gypping him on this job and he was willing to do good work for us if I paid him the hourly difference. Clearly this man was disgruntled and I could not afford to have a man unload all of our family's possessions with this mentality. Therefore, I fired him on the spot and called Melissa to see what she could do. She said she did not have any other movers available. Therefore, in the bind I was in I told her that the other guy could stay and I would help him. When my pregnant wife returned to the house from the bank with our three year old to find the scene of me unloading with the one mover she was beside herself. She immediately called Melissa who didn't return her phone call until it was time for the mover to leave because she wanted to get paid. My wife insisted that our contract was void, but that we wanted to pay the mover who stayed for his time. Melissa still insisted that she retain the $100 deposit, but that we could pay her mover cash for his time. At a loss, that's what we did. But, what a decent company would have done would have NEVER retained any money for themselves and taken care of their employees themselves. We will NEVER use this company again. EVER!!!!

I read what Aron posted and had to jump in too. 5 star moved me last year from pueblo to denver I got a quote for 650.00 the total was 520.00 this has never happened to me before. Tim, my mover was so fast my truck was loaded in an hour. Melissa the estimator did not low ball me her quote was 130 bucks higher and that was pretty cool to have an extra 130 bucks for food at my new place. So yes they rock, hire them! And you can call me too 720-635-4454

Ok I have used five star moving and storage SEVEN times in six years. I have had the best experiences with this company, therefore I am baffeled by such a negitive review. I am not the type of person who takes time to write reviews, I hardley see my six year old. I needed to schedule move number six and could not locate their phone number. When I came to yp.com I saw this outrageous comment. This company is awesome, they are fast, respectful, and kind. I contacted the owner and she explained that this review was written by a discrundaled employee. People when checking out a mover anyone can write a review go to the BBB they are an A plus rating. She has tried to get yp to remove this rating with no avail. So everyone that uses five star knows that they are great, so write a review guys !!! Here is my personal cell phone if you have questions about them i am that confident 303-663-1147
