The Cocoa Police Department operates through administration, field services and support services divisions. The field services division includes a patrol bureau, traffic bureau, reserve support unit, K-9 unit and marine unit and operates 24 hours, seven days a week. The division has a target response time of two to five minutes on all calls requiring a police response. Its criminal investigations unit handles the general criminal cases, such as burglaries and its special investigations unit is a proactive unit that targets street-level and higher drug activity, as well as other crimes requiring undercover and covert operations. The department also operates the S.M.A.R.T. unit that is responsible for generating exhaustive statistical reports. It is located in Cocoa, Fla.
