The Foursquare Gospel Church of Clinton began in November of 1953 in tent services in Camanche, and the following summer in Riverview Park. The church building, at 532 8th Avenue South, was constructed in November 1954. Using Revelation 3:8, "I have set before you an open door that no one can shut...," we have taken the name...Church of the Open Door. Our present building (east) with the main sanctuary was built in 1980 with the greatest amount of work done by the church family. An additional 9-1/2 acres of land was purchased and The Lamb's Door Family Life Center was dedicated in October of 1989.Pastor Jim and Sharon Machen came to Clinton as Pastors in 1969.
