Harvey Mudd College was founded in 1955 by a committee of the Claremont Colleges consortium in cooperation with the family of Harvey S. Mudd. Mudd College is a member of The Claremont Colleges. The college has various academic departments, including biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, humanities and social sciences, mathematics and physics. It also offers study abroad and domestic exchange programs, and special programs and facilities, such as academic excellence, learning and special intercollegiate programs, a teaching and learning committee, tutoring resources, and a writing center.
