WARM AND WELCOMING place!!! Just adopted a kitten yesterday from here and he is absolutely amazing and sweet! The ladies that work here were all helpful and VERY nice. We were nicely greeted as soon as we stepped out of our vehicle and they were polite and professional. I can't remember the two ladies' names that helped us out with picking the right kitten for our family but they were both very patient and helpful. This was my first time adopting and they all made my experience wonderful!! Chilton County Humane Society you're awesome!

The Chilton County, Honestly this place does NOT deserve a star. Period. Okay, so I visited the humane shelter in Clanton. Just to get some ideas on what kind of bigger dog I want in my back yard. Now I looked around and ventured off into the cat/kitten Section and in one of three cages was full of 3 tiny kittens and 3 older kittens So of course I go to that cage, and anyways I pick up one of the three tinier Kittens and its body was limp and its mind was faint, that not normal with kittens, They are supposed to be energetic and playful but yet all three tinier kittens wouldn’t Even walk. So I asked the owners about the kittens, turns out they were just weaned about three days ago from a surrogate mother. From my knowledge of having other kittens I realized these kittens are WAY too young to eat hard food nor use the kitty litter, and that’s exactly what the ladies their said the kittens can do, on top of it all they told me the kittens were 6-8 weeks of age. LIES. I offered to purchase the youngest and weakest one, they told me how about you “foster” because they are legally supposed to fix them, and I said well if I foster can I take all three? She told me yes, and when they become 3 pounds just return they and we will fix them. So to me that’s a WIN moment, right? Well I told the lady I will split up the kittens because one is sicker than the others and she was completely fine with that. So I left and gave two kittens to two different friends from school, I know they will take care of them 100%! So 5 days later one kitten is dead and the other two are dying. i took them to the vet and was told they are almost 4 weeks of age, so with that knowledge guess what? That means they were starving in the cage for three days before I got them. So. they have an upper respiratory infection, which is treatable, so I got them meds and by this time the shelter called me back and was calling me not fit to foster (by the way: I signed my name on a couple of papers, so yeah. no background check nothing!!!!) anyways they want the two kittens back now. But I’m sure they are not safe there. At all. I hope they do not have Feline Leukemia because I have a cat.

I hope thats not why they are half off ON COST.

The Chilton County Humane Society sold a 13 year old, me, a kitten that they said was 8 weeks, but was really 4 weeks, 2 weeks ago, and last night, June 16, 2014, she died. They didn't test her before they sold her to me and I later found out she had Feline Leukemia. We knew the kitten was sneezing and the humane society said it was allergies. Apparently she had an upper respiratory infection and with having FeLV it was too much for her 6 week old body. I am not doing well. i am extremely attached to this kitten. It was the first thing I could call mine. I worked 2 weeks babysitting to have the money for the kitten and all the kitten's stuff. Then I spent 3 months convincing my mom to let me have a cat. I paid the first vet bill and I wouldn't ask for my mom's help until this week when my kitten got really sick. Honestly, i wouldn't tell anyone to get a cat or any animal from this place. By the way, LeLV is extremely contagious to other cats. I paid $80 for the kitten and after this happened the humane society put every cat and dog on sale. Do you think they know and are trying to get rid of the cats to save their own butts? I hope you see this place for what they really are.
