I suppose there is a thrill from having a meal brought to you by rude people who think they are doing you a favor but not for me. The food was over seasoned which makes one ask what are you hiding? But the entire staff needed replacing from my angle and I wont bore you with my rant about the wait.

Arrived at 7:55 PM for an 8:00 reservation. Waited at the bar for 45 minutes. Asked the hostess twice when we'd be seated - but she never was able to tell us when a table would be available. We finally left at 8:40 and went to another restaurant. The entire staff was not very friendly, nor did they seem concerend we were waiting so long for our table. I doubt we'll ever go back there again!

I hate have to wait but that is the only thing I did not enjoy at Precinct last night. My fillet was the perfect cut and perfect quality. The Freddy Salad is great. The lobster was about as perfect as I have ever had. You could slice through it with your fork.

I've only had one meal at The Precinct - the veal chop - but it was the best thing I've ever had at a restaurant. Anywhere in the world.
It was over two inches thick and must have been 16-20 ounces.
We had some kind of appetizer which was great (I think it was mushrooms on bread), but my brain expunged everything but the pleasure sensation of that chop.

This was the first nice resturant in town that I went to that I was still hungry when I left. I had the lobster and it was tasteless. I didn't complain cause I figured I'd fill up on desert!! Only to be told they only have choc. covered strawberries complimentary for desert (I'm allergic to strawberries). It was obvious they wanted you out after your meal. I feel if your paying as much as we did for our meal we shouldn't be rushed out. Nor should I have to go to another resturant for a bite to eat and desert (which we did). They did offer a free desert the next time I come in. Just make sure it's not a holiday or they won't have the desert menu. Not sure we'll be back since dinner was not so great either.

I was born & raised in Cincinnati and now reside in North Carolina. My family however still lives in Cincy, so whenever I'm home we for sure make a stop at The Precinct. I don't even eat meat too often, but just thinking about one of the Precinct's steaks, my mouth waters! The whole atmosphere of the restaurant & it's staff is pleasurable and inviting, and the food is the icing on the cake!

I have been to many places in the greater cincinnati area, and the Precinct has the best atmosphere, service and steaks. I recommended all of my family and friends to enjoy the experience. If you want a great steak, go to the Precinct. Any other steak place is just mediocre!! And make sure you have a drink at the bar. The bartender makes the best appletini and he is a great person to strike up a converstation with!!

The scenic drive from the city's downtown core to The Precinct ended in what seemed to be a different time period altogether. The Precinct resides in what used to be a patrol house. Its eerie atmosphere is generated by old brick walls, haunting black and white photos of criminals and officers of times past hanging throughout, and a feeling of confinement while dining that must have been felt while these cells were occupied by these empty expressionless faces in the photographs. It is nothing but thrilling. There is some unexplained connection you feel with the history when you dine at The Precinct. My girlfriend and I had planned to try The Precinct's famed steaks. She ordered the Carson Palmer filet and I chose the porterhouse. While both steaks were cooked to perfect pink and they were melt in your mouth tender, we were both shocked at the amount of peppercorn 'seasoning' were caked on the outside of the steaks. After one bite my eyes were watering and my nose was beginning to drip. We love spicy foods, but eating the steak was literally like snorting cracked pepper. I actually thought there had to be a mistake in the kitchen, but, after being told that the steaks were supposed to be that way, I was tempted to challenge our waiter to take a bite of the steak, look me in the red, teary eyes and tell me that it was correct. HOWEVER, do not let this deter you from The Precinct's steaks. Had I known I would have just asked for less pepper coating. After scraping the pepper off the steak with my fork it was some of the best steak either of us had ever had. The wine list was extensive, the dessert (I have no idea what she ordered, all I know is it was big) was delicious, and our waiter (despite his surprised glare because I wanted some steak with my pepper) was actually quite helpful and classy. It is a must stop restaurant for any who, like us, were visiting Cincinnati for the first time. It is a total experience worth a try; just ask them to go easy on the pepper.

i am a sales rep who dines out on a regular basis to entertain my clients and there's only one place to go and that's the precinct. i know from the moment i walk in, i and my clients are going to have a 5 star experience. the service is phenomenal, and the food is always delicious and consistent. just looking around, there's always someone with a smile on their face ready and willing to assist you in any matter that needs attention. i have recommended the precinct to all my staff and family and friends. i am so thankful that there's a nice restaurant that still puts their guests first!

My husband and I went there in March 2006 for our 1 year anniversary. Everything was wonderful. Best steak we've ever had anywhere. The only con would be the that the tables are really close together. As we were finishing up our dinner another couple had been seated right next to us and she insisted on sitting next to her date. Needless to say they were literally almost on top of each other because there's not enough room to sit side by side at the little table they were at. Other than that, everything was wonderful. Did not try they wine, but the food was great ! Would definitley go there again.

I recently took my girlfriend here, at her request, for her birthday. Being a culinary grad, former resident of Chicago (no stranger to steaks), and self-proclaimed foodie, I was dissapointed in our evening...to say the least. The ambiance was nice, but the tables are so small they barely leave you room to set your wine glass down after the food is delivered. Not to mention the fact that they are all right on top each other. I must say the flavor of the steak was delicious, but was cooked just past the med-rare that I ordered, and it came out a bit on the cold side. I expected the king crab topping to be chunks that covered the steak, but it was only one single piece that was barely as big as my little finger. The sauces were too thick and should be served on the side (perhaps part of the reason the temperature was off). The service was average, at best. When I dine at a place of this supposed caliber, I shouldn't need to ask for another glass of wine before my server offers one (after it was completely empty). The clearing of the table was also not accomplished in a timely manner. The floor manager was cheesy and didn't seem the least bit sincere when checking on us. But the worst part of all was that they forgot my girlfriend's bday. I made mention of the fact that that was the reason for our visit when I made the reservation, and again the morning of our dinner when they called to confirm. Which was another turn-off. When I asked the girl what they do for bdays, she explained that there would be a chocolate dessert w/some ""goop"" on top. When asked if they could personalize the dessert with a happy b'day and my girlfriend's name written with the sauce (which is a very easy request to accomodate, and has been done for me elsewhere before), she flat-out denied my request without checking into it further. Don't be fooled by their reputation. I will be dining at Morton's next time. The price and wine is comparable and you have no less than 3 servers plus backwaiters.

I have to say I have gone several times and it I am always amazed of how Great the food always is. The service is hands down some of the best in Cincinnati as well as the atmosphere. If you are looking for the best steak in town served by some of the friendlist staff. You will not be disappointed. Jeff Ruby finally did something right.

The Precinct serves the best steak that I've ever had in my life! I've been here 5 or 6 times, and can honestly say that this is the best place to go for special occasions (or if you can afford it, regularly). The service is excellent, but not stuffy.

I had read about the rub on the steak and found it to be true. In fact one of the steaks came out very salty. It could not be consumed. They did not offer to do anything and we did not push it because we were not trying to get anything from them. Of course just has everyone mentions the tables are on top of each other which makes a private conversation impossible. I thought the bartender on the Saturday we were there was very poor also.

I missed my return flight to Atlanta from Cincinnati on a Saturday night.
I figured what the heck...I'll stay and catch a cheap Bengals game on Sunday.
After the game the ramps to the expressway were packed so I headed through town. That's when I stumbled into The Precinct.
Went in...ordered a steak and a margarita.
What can I say...without a doubt...THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER EATEN IN MY LIFE!!!!! If you get the chance to eat there...DO NOT PASS IT UP!
Words could never come close to explaining it...you'll have to eat there yourself.

My husband and I dined at the Precint for the first and only time.Tables being so close was not romantic nor comfortable. The steaks had a season rub, which I believe, a truly great steak, would not need. The service was prompt but stuffy.

Have been going to The Precinct for years. Usually go here once a month or more. The food here is impecible and the service is second to none. As all the other Ruby establishments, one can expect to be treated with friendly servers, bartenders etc.. I have to say that Tony Ricci and his staff have got the ambiance and professionalism down to a science. We go to this Ruby rest, because we feel like family here.
