Dr. Keith Girton is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and spine specialist at our Melbourne, Fla. location. He comes to PPOA from Laser Spine Institute in Tampa. A native of Columbus, Ohio, Dr. Girton earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He did a residency in Family Medicine at Miami Valley Hospital in Ohio, and his residency in Orthopedics at Fort Worth Affiliated Hospitals in Texas. During his second residency, he joined the U.S. Air Force and was stationed at Scott Air Force base near Belleville, Ill. He was honorably discharged. Among the factors that influenced his decision to pursue a career in medicine were his parents, who suffered the effects of the polio epidemic that swept the United States in the 1940s and 50s. “I saw the lifelong effects of this disease and it motivated me to help people get out of pain.” After working at several practices, Dr. Girton joined Laser Spine Institute in 2011. The prestigious spine care company closed its doors in March 2019, and Dr. Girton joined Physician Partners of America. He is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He and his wife have a blended family of five grown children and enjoy the outdoors.
