I grew up near Cicero in Chicago eating Polish and Bohemian cooking in the 1940's. IMO KLAS is the closest you will find to authentic Bohemian-American cuisine in a Restaurant setting today! I regularly took visiting vendors from Boston, New York City, etc. to KLAS for dinner, not only for the great food but also the Old World ambiance and historic significance....It's private party rooms upstairs were a regular meeting place for Al Capone and associates in the late 1920's and early 1930's. The very affordable meals blew the minds of my visiting Vendors accustomed to East Coast Restaurant prices. I've been retired to Texas for the past 10 years, but every time I get back to Chicago for a visit the family trip to KLAS is mandatory!
