We set up a surprise Karaoke party at Ron's Roadhouse for our child's 12th birthday party. Because of her age, we set it up with the owner that the host would come in 2 hours early. That way we wouldn't run into an issue of having young children in a bar later than they should.

Ron assured us that the host would be there at 7PM. We also asked for a specific host that we had seen a week earlier. He was a lot of fun, and everyone was looking forward to a great evening.

My daughter was completely surprised! Everyone was ordering plenty of food and drinks, and the bar was making a ton of money! We had approximately 18 adults, and just as many kids. All of the children, as well as a few of the adults were looking forward to 7PM Karaoke. And that's when things fell apart.

The top of the hour came and went with no karaoke host in sight. We asked the bar manager where the host was and he assured us that he would be there shortly. Finally by 7:30PM we asked the owner to call the host so that we could get and E.T.A. He obliged us by calling the host (supposedly), and then came back to us to report that he would be there shortly. Then at 8PM we requested that he call him again. I stood next to him during the phone call while he was (supposedly) talking to our host. He told me that the host was at 21 mile and I-94 and on his way. We had him call again at 8:30 with pretty much the same results. He was on his way. The owner stood next to me again and (supposedly) left him a voicemail. The owner told me that it was not HIS fault if the host didn't show up at 7PM. He had set it all up for us, as promised. He then said something to me that sounded so strange, that it became crystal clear what had actually happened.

The owner said to me, "If nothing else, he'll definitely be at the bar by 9PM because that's his start time." He said that, of course he was supposed to start at 7PM for us, but he'll definitely be to the bar by 9PM or else he would be late?? I said that doesn't make any sense to me because he's almost 2 hours late at this point?

Finally at 9PM the karaoke host finally arrived! I was ready give the guy a piece of my mind, but guess what? It was a different host? I asked the host what happened to the other host that was on his way? He said that he had been asked during the previous week by our preferred host to fill in for him? Neither host was ever asked to come in early! I was furious! At this point, we had lost over half of our party. We had promised our guests and their children that they would be able to sing, and everything that was told to us was nothing but a lie! Not a mistake! A blatant LIE!

What really amazed me more than anything else was this...Remember how I said earlier that I was standing right next to the owner while he was talking to host on his cell phone?? He was actually just faking those phone calls the entire time! He kept telling me that the host was saying this or that....but then a different host showed up? He was faking those phone calls like a child would do while trying to deceive their parents?

As far as I am concerned, he lied to us over and over throughout the entire evening just so that we would all stay there and run up our tab! It is one of the most dishonest things that I have ever had happen to me!

After all the times that myself and my family have been in there, we will never, ever go back. Our friends that were there also agreed that none of them will ever step foot in Ron's Roadhouse again either. I hope that I never again have to be part of anything that includes such adolescent behavior and deception. This is what happened to me there. If you would like to patronize a place like that, then that is your choice!
