I took my son in to eat here. The first thing I did was ask the man that was seating us is how much was the kids buffet. He told me it was $5.95 and the lady behind the counter spoke up and said it was $5.50. They both said kids eat free after 5pm and the age was 12 years old and under.

Our waiter did not hear the conversation between me and the other two employees, so when the bill came, it showed $8.95 for my son's meal. I told the waitress about what the other two employees had told me. She acted like I had done something wrong. I told her the only reason my son ordered the buffet was because of the price we were quoted.

Then the waitress told me the kids menu was for 10 and under and I told her that's not what I was told. I pointed out the employee that told me about the price and age limit. The waitress finally agreed to only charge us for a child's price for my son. The waitress then went over to the other employee and corrected him to where everyone could hear. I thought that was very unprofessional.

The food was good and the atmosphere was great, but it left me not wanting to return. I think charging $8.95 for a 12 year old to eat a buffet is ridiculous. I will not eat where the service is not as good as the food.

This may seem to be and old restuarant, but the woman (at this time don't know her name} that has taken over the place does a great job of serving great home cooked food with great service.

If you get the buffet lunch or dinner there are so many things to choose from. Not greasy or microwaved like so many places are today. The salad buffet has so many selections of it's own you can fill up on that alone, never mind the main menu buffet. That's an entire soiree of food for any hungry, hard working individual can really get their teeth into and know they got their money's worth.
My husband and I both have enjoyed the place since we moved here to Old Town 2 years ago. Not that far of a drive from home, especially if your in the neighborhood doing your usual shopping, just south of Walmart on Main Street.

Prices for the buffet or straight from the menu are fantastic; all with GOOD HOME COOKING and friendly faces from all that work there.

Do not ever eat at the The Gathering Table in Chiefland, FL. I went there to take my mother and father out for a nice dinner. 1st they brought onion rings out that were all batter and no onion in it, 2nd they argued with my father about not having wishishere sauce then brought it out, 3rd they brought everyone's food and appetizers out at the same time and forgot Ricky dinner and never even thought about it again until I asked then they went and put the order in for his when we were all finished ready to leave, Then when we were getting ready to pay the bill I had said something to the waitress about speaking to the manager about the service and the manager comes out tells me she will give me a coupon for a free kids meal next time. I tell her I will probably never come there again and she agrees to comp the onion rings I say ok she disappeared and when I ask if she was going to comp it so I could pay she comes out and says she decided she was no longer going to comp them. So at this point I give her a friendly piece of advice you are a manager 1st you should have the respect to come and speak to your paying customers to their face not sit and talk crap about them behind a wall which by the way we heard every word she was saying (they are just misers trying to get free food) then she assaulted me and grabbed my hand and yanked the bill from my hand and word for word told me "Get the hell out of my restaurant I don't need young rude people like you in my restaurant" last I checked I thought it was a place for young and old to eat and there were lots of witnesses that saw this woman assault me.
