Mr. Biggs is a very kind and knowledgeable Luthier. I have a 7 year old who plays a fractional size violin and so far Mr. Biggs seems to be the only one who can make it sound this beautiful. He knows his craft well. He also set up my 3/4 size cello and my instructor was very pleased with the improvements. His suggestions no doubt come from years of experience. We are very pleased with his work.

I've been going to Mr. Biggs since I started playing 20 years ago. He's a friendly guy who easily outranks the big shops in Chicago at better prices. My violin was made by a defunct company at the turn of the century, and he had a book of knowledge about it in his brain. He even figured out the most likely guy who made it given the era, and that guy's history! He always gives me a great price on Dominant strings, too. He charges $100 for a bow rehair, and he does an amazing job at a very fast turn around.

I was visiting in the area so I brought my violin in for a checkup and he tried to sell me a new soundpost for ninety dollars when the best violin shops in Chicago charge half that much. He also tried to sell me a new bridge when I already had one fitted by one of the top shops in Chicago. He reminded me of a used car salesman. Stay away from this guy! Very arrogant too.
