Founded in 1991 by actor and Chelsea native, Jeff Daniels, The Purple Rose Theatre Company is a leading professional theatre dedicated to producing new American plays and classic stories that speak to audiences in the midwest. A 501(c)(3) not-for-profit professional theatre, the Purple Rose produces 4 plays in each year-round season. Performances take place 7 times per week (Wednesdays through Sundays), with nearly 250 performances per year. Located in the charming city of Chelsea, Michigan, just west of Ann Arbor, the Purple Rose Theatre provides live entertainment for nearly 40,000 visitors each year. The theatre is an intimate space, with seating on 3 sides of the stage.
