Normally I try and find something nice to write in a review, no matter how bad the situation, however in this case I can not. I visited Mrs. Hawkins at Physician’s Care to ask about getting enough of my prescription medicine that I was running out of to last me until I could get established with a different PCP. She did explain to me the law and her restriction on prescribing medications which I respect. She was in my room for less than one minute, did not give me time to speak, did not answer any questions, walked out as if she would be back, and then she sent a nurse in with a prescription and a suggestion for a different doctor. Her suggestion was to a pediatric office (I am 30 years old.) I requested to speak with her again and she stuck her head inside the door. Almost in tears at this point, I explained to her that while I understand the law, I was self paying and that this would only get me through the weekend. Even calling a PCP on Monday, they would not be able to see me that soon. I did not ask her to prescribe anymore medication but asked since I was self pay and that it was $120 for me today and I’d have to do it again on Monday, was there any way that she could work with me on payment. Her response was “Why didn’t you see the doctor you saw last? Did they cut you off?” I asked to speak to someone in billing or a manager so that we could discuss, she said “Speak to the front desk.” Slammed the door and walked out. If you want a provider who will listen, understand, offer suggestions, answer questions, spend more than one minute in the room, is willing to help you find a capable referral, and will not slam the door in your face, make sure that you call Physician’s Care and ensure that you are not seeing Mrs. Hawkins. There are a handful of good providers there but she most definitely is not one of them.
