This previous post by wfdgirlie is really unbelievable to me. I also have an adopted daughter with special needs and have found Dr. Bertrand and her staff to be nothing but professional, kind and very knowledgeable and empathetic to my daughter's needs. We have been a patient of Stono Pediatrics for the past 3 years since we moved to Charleston. They are always willing to take the time to see her and spend extra time with me to address my concerns. I hope that this previous post just had to do with one bad apple, because I have never had this experience at this facility and would recommend Stono pediatrics to anyone. I have had an occasion where I've had to wait a while in the waiting room, but no one has ever yelled at my child or refused stickers to her. Get a grip people.

As a recent transplant to Jame...

As a recent transplant to James Island, I was lured in by the fresh new building which houses Stono Pediatrics. Boy, are looks decieving! I am an adoptive Mom of two 3 yr old boys with special needs. Setting up a primary pediatrician was definitely a top priority. I made a huge mistake in choosing Stono. To begin with, they have very cold, rude, and incompetent staff. The receptionist told me she was faxing my children's immunization records to head start and she never did! I found out a month later when I recieved a letter from the school. I had a couple sick visits there with mediocre service. The last straw, which now has me searching for good pediatric office, was when I had a 9:45am appointment for my two boys and they were still not seen as of 11:35!! When I inquired as to what the issue was, the lady who sits at the exit window and yells at your children, told me the doctor was running behind...blah blah blah. She wouldn't let my boys have a sticker or a lollypop even though they'd been waiting almost 2 hours. At just about the 2 hour mark, the crabby lady from the window had the audacity to come into the room where we were waiting and tell my children they needed to quiet down. (They weren't even being loud!) My reply to her was, "Have you ever been shut in a 10' x 10' room for 2 hours with 2 three year olds?!" Helloooo it's a pediatrician's office! You work with kids!!! My children were never seen that day, as I had enough and stormed out. We walked across the lot to Nason Medical Center and were in and out of there within half an hour. Several parents in the waiting room at Stono Pediatrics on that day were clearly about as aggravated as I was!
