Dr. Jones has been a physician faculty member, Residency Program Director, and Vice Chair of the UNC Department of Radiation Oncology since 2008, joining us from nearby Duke University where she had been a faculty radiation oncologist for over a decade. Her area of long-standing research interest is the study of agents that enhance the effectiveness of radiation treatment. Her studies span basic research in cells to clinical trials in patients. This work has been supported by a grant from the National Cancer Institute for which she served as a Principal Investigator. Dr. Jones is the principal or co-author of more than 50 journal articles and 10 textbook chapters. Dr. Jones received a 2016 Teacher of the Year Award from the Association of Residents in Radiation Oncology (ARRO), and in 2017 was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA)Medical Honor Society at UNC. She has been an invited lecturer nationally and internationally, including at the University of Virginia, Northwestern University, the Cleveland Clinic and Tokyo University.
