Dr. Weiner is one of our two newest faculty members, arriving at UNC in August 2017. She has been managing our medical student clerkships since her arrival, and in July 2019 was named the Program Director for our Radiation Oncology Residency Training Program. She specializes in the treatment of lung cancer, gynecologic cancers, gastrointestinal cancers, and image-guided radiotherapy. She is the first or co-author of 4 peer-reviewed publications associated with her graduate work in engineered, drug-releasing gelatin microparticles, and 6 additional publications related to her clinical interests in SBRT and radioembolization for liver tumors, use of radiotherapy in anorectal cancers, and brachytherapy for gynecologic malignancies. Dr. Weiner’s extensive training in biomedical engineering earned her membership in the Tau Beta Pi Association, the oldest engineering honor society in the US, as well as prestigious National Science Foundation fellowships, both as an undergraduate and graduate student.
