This is the church I was saved in October 1st 1981. This was also my 18th birthday. My aunt Ettie Frances brought me to this church on that day 35 years ago, and I left there a changed young man. After about 2 months at Hilltop I came back home to Niles, Michigan, and began to share Christ with my family and friends. The people there were very accepting of me and made me feel welcome. I would like to tell them thank you for being there for me at a critical point in my life. I am 52 years old, and have been married for 30 years. I have 6 grandchildren and am living in Mishawaka, IN. and going to Oak Creek Baptist church (Southern Baptist). I am the outreach team leader for our church and have been on 6 different mission trips outside of the country, and it all started at Hilltop Baptist church. The Pastor at the time who gave several altar calls at the end of the service, that made the difference. I resisted them until the last one, when he said, " If you are a member of this church and you feel like you know someone may want to come forward, but may be a little afraid, why don't you give them a nudge and tell them you will walk down with them." My aunt Ettie Frances, whom I had just met, offered to do this for me, and I told her " No, I'm going to do this myself." As I began to walk down the far right isle, from the back, the love of God washed over, and through me, and changed the course of my life forever. Thank you Pastor for being there, to be used by God, to change my life. I would like to come back again some day if the Lord wills, but I wanted to write this testimony and good word for this church. I'm sure there are many others, like me, who could give a positive word for this church. May they continue to serve the Lord, and be there for lost souls as I once was.
