My good friend of fine dining,
Dining at the Lucky J reminded me of a tricky blind-date.
Initially, we were unimpressed by the Lucky J's exterior, but then found the main dining area warm and welcoming. We also found the staff friendly.
The first sign of trouble was the fact that the Lucky J makes no accommodation for non-smokers. We then discovered that, for reasons never made clear, we would not be given a single waitress. Instead, two servers alternately visited our table, making for confused and spotty service.
The food was mediocre at best. Combined, our meals were typical of something you might find at a road-side cafe. For example, my wife's steak barely passed muster, my son's mashed potatoes were tasteless plaster, and my order was not properly filled. All this might be OK if one is paying cafe prices, but the Lucky J demands relatively high prices. If you are looking for fine food, or good value, you might want to dine elsewhere.

This is my favorite place to go on the weekends! The environment is very welcoming and they have a really great staff. Plus, the food is fantastic!

I took my wife to this restaurant for our anniversary last weekend. It was our first time eating here, and we couldn't have had a better experience. The atmosphere was one of a kind, we felt comfortable yet we were still in a fine-dining establishment. I had the KC Strip and she had the filet. Both of our steaks were cooked perfectly and were nice and tender. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful with the menu. Can't wait to go back.

I attended a barrel race at the Lucky J arena and had a great time. It was a pretty big event, but everything went smoothly and people had a lot of fun. Excited to go back for the next one!
