Horrible experience!!! A Ward Moving and Storage moved our possessions out in July, stored them and moved them back in after our renovations in October. I have moved many times but I've never experienced such carelessness and disregard for items like A Ward had. My sewing machine was smashed beyond repair, they ran over the bobbins with their truck and left them in the street. They broke a leg off an antique buffet, lost a wooden shelf inside an antique secretary that is a family heirloom. They smashed a porcelain figurine, dishes, glassware. They scraped tables that had to be completely refinished, broke a leg off a table that had to be remade, and delivered back seven framed pieces all together in one box with no wrapping that shattered glass everywhere. I have counted 23 lost, broken items. When they returned our items they moved the items marked "garage" into the bedroom and a box marked " Last on, First off" we didn't locate for 15 days. It contained sheets and towels and was finally found in the garage. They haven't helped me recover damages on many pieces and the insurance company they referred me to has only sent me a black lid for my white Bunn coffeemaker since April. I am utterly stunned at their utter lack of compassion for our possessions. I wouldn't recommend them for moving anything!!!

Terrible experience all around. I had planned a long detailed account of our experience, but it is unlikely anyone would actually read it. Suffice it to say every type of business has participants that are ethical and those that are simply looking to make a buck--Award Moving Services is definitely the latter. After having Carlton form the main office preform a walk through of our house in advance and supply a "not to exceed" quote, we were greeted on moving day (nearly an hour late by the way) with another form by the leader of the moving crew informing us that the scope of the move was larger than originally anticipated and there may be additional costs (this is a 2300 square foot house mind you, not some sprawling mansion). Due to impending closing on the house we were in no position to send them away and find another company, which I am sure they are counting on when they pull this type of bait and switch tactic. At the end of a 15 hour day (yes, 15 hours to move a 2300 square foot house into a slightly larger house less than 5 miles away) we were presented a bill that was over $1000 higher than our original "not to exceed quote." They even charged us for extra tape and bubble wrap due to the amount of pictures we had, over a dozen of which they left at the old house because they ran out of carts to move them.



After this occurrence I did some online research and found out this is a very common practice by dishonest movers. They know that most people will not have the luxury of sending them packing when they present the secondary form stating the move is much bigger than originally estimated and will cost more. Most people who are moving on a particular day are doing so because of schedules they have planned for weeks in advance and the movers know that. It is important to know that the "not to exceed" quote is just that...a quote. Do your research and find a company that does not have a reputation for these sorts of tactics.

We used their services to move our small business office. Their quote was competitive and the gentleman who came to give the quote was very professional. They did a great job. They were very careful with everything and I will definately use them again. I have recommended them to friends and family and all have been satisfied with their services.
