Established in 1838, Hickory Flat Elementary School is one of the oldest schools in the Cherokee County School District. It offers classes to more than 1,000 students from kindergarten through grade six. The school s facility includes a basketball court, cafeteria, library, gymnasium, media center, music room, art lab and more than 30 classrooms. The school organizes several programs that include early intervention, remedial education and advanced academics. The school also organizes speech programs for prekindergarten students. It has a faculty of nearly 100 full-time teachers and maintains a special education department. The school has a student council and a parent-teacher organization that enables teachers, parents and administrators to enhance the educational experience of students. Hickory Flat Elementary School is located in Canton, Ga.
