Small Brown Landscape Architects is a collaboration between Sarah Small and Ruth Brown, both longtime residents of the San Francisco Bay Area who share a passion for gardens. We have each been creating unique and enduring designs for traditional and contemporary homes for over twenty years. Our projects range from intimate courtyard gardens to large-scale estates, from oceanside environments to gardens suited to the Peninsula’s temperate climate. Our design portfolio encompasses both new development and the restoration of aging properties. We view each garden as a unique creation that integrates architecture, geographic features, heritage, and horticulture. We work with our clients to develop distinctive outdoor environments that reflect their personal aesthetics and program requirements. Each garden is created, restored, or transformed to reveal the personal vision of each client. From design and construction through long-term maintenance, we value design integrity, process, and lasting relationships with our clients and their gardens.
